Yeah, it might just be a fad. I know a lot of people who spell their name funky ways on facebook. One guy I know has it as Stephenn, but I'm pretty sure it's only spelled with one n, so yeah. Anyway, here's hoping!!

You're probably right--they've most likely added letters to make it look "cool." I've noticed this in captions and texts on Facebook written by high schoolers--they tend to have extra vowels (usually on the end) to...emphasize the word, maybe? I don't know. Text-speak is practically its own language.

However, this begs the question: will these people do this to their future children's names on the birth certificate, as well?
