Hello. Hope everyone is doing well.

What do you think of Amos & Poppy as a sib-set.
I have loved Poppy for ages, but have recently fallen in love with the name Amos, pronounced Aye-moss.

TIA

I'm surprised at how well they go together. Individually Poppy is so energetic and cutesy, and Amos is very Bible-wielding-fronteir-man. But I guess what they have in common is a hipster vibe.

i posted about Amos and then totally forgot to ask about Poppy... whew... is it the end of the week yet!! heh

Would Poppy be a full name or a nickname or something? Poppy itself would be a cute nickname i think, but it feels like it should be short for something... :-S

I've never seen it pronounced aye-mos, just ay-mos. I'm not a fan of either name but it's a cute pair.

Amos to rhyme with famous? It's kind of hard to tell from your spelling what you want the sound to be.

Either way, I'm not a fan of either, personally, but I think they would go well together.

Like "Eye-moss"? I think that sounds kind of weird and maybe a little pretentious. The child would have to correct people his entire life because he'd always be getting called Amos that rhymes with famous.

The first thing I thought of was like Egor in Young Frankenstein who kept saying "It's Eyyyyeeee-gor"

Sounds wayyy too hipster, in my opinion, but I don't mind Poppy. I don't think it's a terrible sib-set, just not my style.

I think they actually work really well together! They're both kind of eclectic and a little old-fashioned but they're refreshing today. :)

I wholeheartedly approve.
No seriously though. Great names, great sibset!

I like them if Amos is pronounced to rhyme with famous. If it's eye-mos, then no.

I love poppy and would use it as a nickname for Penelope.

I think they go together quite well. They sound really cute but my immediate reaction is to pronounce Amos like it rhymes with famous. I say this because we decided to name our daughter Aine (it's Celtic and is pronounced like Anya). I went back and forth on how to spell it because I was worried about her having to correct people her entire life. In the end we went with Aine because I love it and think it's a beautiful name. Big deal if you have to correct people. You do it once and then they remember. So if you really love the name go for it! I'm glad we did.

I don't think they go together, at all, and I also am not sure that's how Amos is pronounced.

no it's fine, spelling out pronunciation can be tough. I think the y is what has people confused A-muss is how I would "spell out" Amos.

I kind of like them together. I love Poppy, mostly because we have Poppa de Bayeux in our family tree (circa 9th century France).

Too bad my husband would never go for Poppa/Poppy.
