My grandfather was called Frank Joel, and whilst I love the name and would want to honour his name in the birth of my future children, but I don't want to simply copy the name, I don't think my dad would like it if I did that either. Frances and Francine are both really pretty feminine versions of Frank, which made me think that it would be lovely to honour a daughter with his name. But I am stuck for feminising Joel.
The obvious is Joelle, which, to be honnest, I think is horrid. It's too much like Noelle, which I think is a completely contrived name. And now I think on it, isn't Joelle contrived too?
The only other one I could think of was Jolene. Not quite the same as Joel, but then Frances and Francine aren't exactly like Frank either. I have no idea if Jolene has similar meanings to Joel. Frances Jolene is nice, although Jolene is more American than English. But Francine Jolene obviously doesn't work.
Other than that, I am stuck! Do you have any more thoughts?
