name my baby!
Feb. 22nd, 2010 06:11 pmHi there name experts! I am pregnant with baby #3 and would like some name suggestions if possible! I'm not finding out the sex, though I have a feeling about it being a girl. I have a girl and a boy already and their names are Gabriella Devorah (Gabbie) and Zachary Elan. We are Jewish and the names need to be at least somewhat Jewish in origin - both my kids have Hebrew names that match their English names (Gavriella and Zachariah) - and their middle names are Hebrew / Israeli without the English translation.
Now, for this child, I would like to name him / her after my grandmother whose name was Selma (Hebrew name Sarah) and Uncle whose name was Jack (Hebrew name Yankel / Yaakov). I don't want to use the name Sarah because it sort of rhymes with my name (Dara) and I can't use Jack because it rhymes with Zach (even though we don't call him that) and plus my last name ends with -off and I don't think it's a good idea! So I'm looking for other S and J (or Y) names. For a girl, I really like Sabrina and I'm thinking Sabrina Yakira right now. For a boy, my husband likes Jacob, but it's just so common! All I can think of is Samuel Jacob or Jacob Samuel, but I don't even really like Samuel, and plus that doesn't follow the pattern of a Hebrew middle name - it would have to be Jacob Shmuel or Samuel Yaakov.
My husband tends to be picky about names and I'd love to have a bunch of ideas to present him with, so fire away! Thanks!
