My mom has been pushing for us to use the name Sadie if it's a girl. It's a family. It's kind of growing on me. Thoughts?

I like it, and it always makes me sing 'Sexy Sadie' by The Beatles which is a plus (at least for me).

It's a cool name in many ways but I can't get past the word "sad" being at the beginning

I like it, but it's always in the back of my mind that it's my friend's dog's name.

Love it. If you want something more "complete", there's, of course, Sara(h). I think Sadie stands just fine on its own, though.

my friend named her baby girl sadie recently and while its cute, i dont really think it ages well. i cant see an adult woman named sadie, seriously.

we had a dog named sadie.. so I can't really see using it for a kid.. but it's certainly not a horrible name. Just not something I'd ever use.

I really like it, but I think it would be better as a nickname because I can't see it aging well.

I love it. I'm considering using it as a middle name.

yea. i didnt doubt that they existed. i just have my own naming criteria that i go by, and wouldnt name a little girl sadie because it doesnt sound like a name that would hold its own. if i met a grown woman named sadie, id think it odd. like most of the jennys i knew in school, now go by jenn or jennifer now that theyre adults.

one of the things i find interesting about this community is everyones different interpretations (or impressions) of names. :)

I prefer it as a NN or MN... and it's getting a little popular for my taste. But it's certainly not horrible, and if you like it, go for it. =) Especially with the family associations.

I think it's adorable. But it could be a nickname (Sarah, Sandra, Mercedes) if you don't love it as a full name.

the only sadies i've ever met were grown women, 40+. none of them were named sarah.

I like it...but I don't see where people are getting Sarah from in relation to it! Although I do think it'd be a good nickname for Mercedes if you're not too big on Sadie as a full name.

1. I like it

2. But don't let anyone push names on you. Most likely you'll regret it in the end.

cute, but ONLY as a nn. I think you could swing it as a nn for lots of things.

I used to think Sadie was a dog's name only, but this comm has kinda changed my opinion.

Sadie was originally a nn for Sarah.

My dearest friend is a Sadie... she's also a lawyer and alternates between using Sadie and her given name Sarah as a title. (she only heard Sarah growing up whilst getting into trouble.)

Sadie is a nickname (from Gaelic or french origin - dont remember which) for Sarah.
