fictional names

Working on fictional names for a story. Names are an important part of the plot, or well nicknames are, which is why a number of the characters have nicknames. I am missing a few minor characters, and I just seem to be at a standstill with names.

• Emily Gwendolyn Sinclair (Wendy)


• Affair with: ?


• Daughter: Patricia Sinclair (Tricia)


• Married: Mark Tobias Edwin Johannson


• Daughter: Marilyn Emilee Sinclair (Molly)


• Sons: Tobias Sinclair, Edwin Sinclair




• Adam Charles Erikson (Ace)




• Horace Jacobson Weiss


• Elizabeth Rose McCafferty (Besty/Betsy)


• Son: ?


• Married: ?


• Son: Jacob Horace Weiss (marries Molly)


• Daughter: Delaney Rose Weiss

So the ones I'm missing are:

- Son of Horace and Betsy, should be a name that doesn't have a nickname, because Horace thinks they are ridiculous. Minor character, but the father of Molly's (protag) future husband.

- Wife of unnamed character above. Also pretty minor. I haven't fully developed her character yet, but think along the lines of a woman's name. Something that would work for a woman currently in her 40s. Also, Jacob's mother, so somewhat necessary to the story.

- Father of Patricia. He is pretty important, since he is the man that Wendy has an affair with, and she is a huge character is the story. I picture him as older than her, married to another woman, in business suits all the time. They meet on a train.

So yeah, suggest anything you can think of, and feel free to comment on what I've already got. Considering the third generation is supposed to be college age in the aughts, do the names work?

I absolutely love the nickname Wendy for Gwendolyn :D
okay - moving on ;)

What about a name that should have a nickname but doesn't... and his reaction to it could give insight on his relationship with his father.. for instance, Zachary David. Dad doesn't like nicknames - if he wants to respect that then he goes by Zachary... if he's showing his independance from what dad likes then he goes by Zack unless dad's around.

if she was 45 then she would have been born in 1964/1965 depending on her birthday... top names in 1965: Lisa, Mary, Karen, Kimberly, Susan, Donna, Linda, Cynthia, Angela... those are the top ten excluding Patricia - you already have a Patricia :)

For some reason the name Richard (Henry) comes to mind for me when thinking of him in a suit... and I like the middle name West with Richard :)
