wdyt about maisy (f) and casper (m)? purely for the sake of curiousity ;)

i think maisy is cute but probably would not age well, and the mention of casper seems to automatically make my brain fill in "the friendly ghost"... love the name though!

I agree that Maisy is cute but doesn't age well. It would be a nice nickname, but I have no idea what for.

I love Casper--my dad was from Casper, Wyoming, so that's my first association, but I have the "friendly ghost" association too. I'm probably going to name the car I inherited from him after he passed away Casper. I kinda name a lot of inanimate objects.

I like Maisy and while it is cute, I don't see any reason that it can't work on a grown woman just as well as a baby or little girl.

Please don't use Casper. The poor kid will get teased unmercifully about "the friendly ghost".

I like those names for animals, but I would not give them to a human. Maisy is sooo cute though. It's my favorite name for this dog my bf and I are looking to get!

I wouldn't use either, but I think they're both adorable. You could always use may or mais when you're older is maisy is too cute.

I think they're both very nice, though Maisie only as a nickname for Margaret. It's too nickname-y on its own. I think Casper is great, it's not like the friendly ghost thing is a terrible association, he was cute and nice! :)

Hate Maisy- makes me think of cows for some reason. If on a person, I imagine a three year old [with ringlets]; I don't think it'd age well.

I really like Casper, and it's kind of on my list. I worry people will automatically think of the ghost though, so I'm undecided, haha.

I think older people might make the association more-so than kids, though. Despite Casper having recent cartoons, he's not -nearly- as popular now as he was when I was little. I remember more two/three cartoons, a comic, the movie, candy, etc., whereas right now I think there's only the 3D animated cartoon (and all of the little kids I know want the channel changed as soon as it comes on, lol). I don't think association will be -quite- as strong/bad for a child nowadays, versus if the child had been given the name during the 80s.

I HATE the name Maisy, it is super ridiculous and made up, unless you actually do think of it as Macy but still... it just reminds me of the word "maize".

I also think it's just silly to associate Casper with the ghost. I love the name and my mind goes to Shakespeare xD

Maisy just reminds me of that mouse character. This is a show that's currently on/a book series that is currently being printed. The kids would be more likely to make this connection.

Casper the friendly ghost is not on anymore, is it? It's unlikely that your kids would make that connection. Any teasing about it would come from adults.

I prefer Maisy spelled Maisie, and think it's very cute, but I agree that it probably wouldn't age very well.

Casper, I don't like at all, even when I push aside the friendly ghost associations.

My daughter has a ton of the Maisy the Mouse books, so I would never in a million years use that name because of those. Same for Casper in terms of the ghost.

I think Maisie is cute, but like you suggested it's not going to age well. Maybe you could use Maisa? It sounds more adult and you still call her Maisie when she's little.

I absolutely love the name Caspar (prefer that spelling over Casper) but probably wouldn't name my kid that because of the cartoon. : /
