So, I'm super-impatient, and can't wait until Tuesday when we find out the *SEX* of the baby, so I wanted to run this list by all of you to get ideas on names you like (and don't like!) for both boys AND girls:

I love Orion, Trent, and Desmond for a boy, and Dakota, Autumn, Celeste, and Delaney for a girl. August isn't bad, either, and Aspen is a guilty pleasure of mine.

That is what I was thinking...the brand of shoes. While I think the thought behind it is excellent, I think you're right. She'd be almost certain to get "Like the shoe???" her whole life.

I know you said you're not looking for common names, so I'd recommend cutting Dakota, Peyton, Mackenzie, and Bryce from your list immediately. While they are not Emily/Bob, these names are increasingly more common lately and are likely to just keep rising in popularity. Especially the "unisex" names for girls like Dakota, Peyton, and Mackenzie.

These ones are a nice fit, I think: uncommon enough that they probably will be the only one in their class in school and likely won't know many other people with their name, but not so uncommon that they will get teased or people will ask, "What the $&*$ were your parents THINKING?!" you know?

I feel like Apollo, Atlas, Maverick, Oberon, Erasmus, Nike, and Juniper kind of fit more into the latter category. If you REALLY love one of these names, though, and REALLY want to use it, a middle name of Oberon or Atlas or Juniper wouldn't be that bad, I don't think: Astrid Juniper, for example, or Jett Erasmus. I like both of those a lot, actually. But I'd keep them in the middle name, just so your child can choose whether or not they're into such a unique name. If they are, they can always go by their middle name, or at least advertise their middle name; if they dislike it and would rather have a more common name, there's no reason they ever have to tell anyone what their middle name is, you know? I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with any of these names, but I can definitely see teasing potential (more than usual, though kids can get teased for ANYTHING, even if their name is, like, Kevin or something) in the more unique choices on your list.

WHAT?????!!!!!! Ahhhh, no that's terrible!!!! Did you WANT to find out, or just don't really mind either way? I think I would kill the U/S tech if I don't find out on Tuesday (no, jk, but I'd be seriously pissed off). On Tuesday, I'll be 21w2 days, though, so I've already waited a loooong time. I want to know, but the baby just won't cooperate. My first at 20 weeks was the hardest because I was so excited to know and then the baby wouldn't uncurl from the ball it was in the entire time. Now, I've kinda gotten used to being disappointed. I'll know in ten more weeks at least if it continues to not cooperate!

After having two boys, and waiting ten years to have another baby, with my third one I was very much wanting to know if we would be getting the girl we so very much wanted. After the first U/S we weren't too worried about not finding out. Then after the second one, and still no clue if we were having a girl or not we were understandably curious. Then the morning of my scheduled C-section... a third U/S... and still we couldn't find out! That was frustration! But, the baby just wouldn't cooperate. But, I will tell you, when in the operating room... and all was quiet with all of us holding our breaths, I've never heard a more joyous cry than, 'It's a girl!' Sometimes, the wait makes it all the more spectacular when getting something that good, to finally arrive into your life. I wish you luck. Enjoy your little one.
