My partner just added three names to his girls' names list, but we're curious... which of these three do you like best and why? What would you pair them with?
I really love all of them, actually. I'd say Linnea is my favorite. It's unique and sounds so pretty. June is very cute. Iris is pretty but doesn't sound as pretty as the others.
I'm having an issue with Linnea, only because it makes me think of the scientist Carl Linnaeus... then again, probably everyone isn't going to have the father of taxonomy on their mind when the see your cute little girl hah. Maybe I'm pronouncing it wrong too?
June is my favorite. I know someone said it sounded old, but I'm really into old lady names. I don't mind Iris, but I don't particularly like Linnea because it seems made up to me and/or like a cleaning a product of some sort.
Definitely Linnea. Partly by process of elimination; June is not terrible, but to me it seems very dated. Iris is somewhat better--it has that so-out-it's-in quality--but still not what I would choose. Linnea is a completely different style, unusual and offbeat (in a good way). I think it's beautiful.
Linnea Zinnia? Maybe I'm pronouncing it wrong, but doesn't Linnea RHYME with Zinnia??? That sounds off to me, but I really like a lot of your other suggestions.
lin-AY-uh ZEEN-ya? I wouldn't say it rhymed, but I guess it doesn't sound too good together. I was just thinking of Zinnia as being a little offbeat, like Linnea, so they might go well together, but I didn't give proper thought to the sound. Oops. I'm glad you like some of the others, at least.
I love June and Iris. I have no idea what I would pair Iris with, though, I just added it to my list and stopped making pairings; I used to have June as a middle name for Hazel.
June sounds old and/or homely. I think with Linnea people are going to misspell and mispronounce it all the time. Iris is a strong name, but still feminine. And I love that it's a name from nature.
