last minute baby name confusion
Jan. 22nd, 2010 10:31 amSo, I am 3 days away from my due date and my husband has suddenly started making new suggestions for our boys name.
Which would you pick out of these two names?
Hiro Asher
Theo Mabini
I posted previously about our choice for a boy being Hiro Asher.
My husband has just said he would like to honour his father by using his father's middle name as a middle name. We didn't take his fathers surname (we took his mothers maiden name) and I think my husband would like to make that up to his father.
Okay, so here is my problem.
His fathers middle name is Mabini (mah-beanie). My husband and his family are Filipino and Mabini is a very common Filipino surname. It is also a province in the Philippines. I like the fact that it is a very Filipino name and I think my husband does too.
I just think that Hiro Mabini Brizuela is just a bit much. I liked the fact that Asher sort of grounded the name as being western/somewhat recognisable to Australians. If Hiro sent his resume people would be wondering where on earth this guy came from.
Now, we have also really loved the name Theo (but not as much as Hiro) so the other thought is to swap Hiro for Theo. Theodore is not an option for my husband :(
I think Theo Mabini Brizuela is at least not going to raise as many eyebrows as being completely foreign.
Husband says he likes Theo and it's 'okay' but he prefers Hiro. So, we're both confused. We're just looking for some opinions to consider.
