mom's coworker has a new granddaughter.  named dazzlynn.  like, "hey that sure was a dazzlin' dress she was wearing".  sister is izzabelle.  I kind of had :| <- that face when she was telling me about it.

also, ellis on a girl?  y/n?

both of those names are dazzlingly unfortunate. at least izzabelle can fake it. theres no disguising dazzlynn.

ellis works on either gender, imo.

i totally agree. i had isabel on my list for ages (it still sort of is, but isnt my number one anymore like it was) and it was all basically for the issie nickname. its not necessary to trash the name with z's in order to call your child izzie/izzie (i pronounce them the same)

ellis is definitely more masculine to me, but i suppose it could work on a girl

augh! its NOT an urban name! its a classy, traditional name SPELLED WRONG.

tell her she is the wrong kind of classist for not learning how to spell.

Agree that you're a classist if she agrees she's an idiot, hahaha!

I'm curious, though, what is an urban name? Is that like putting a number in the middle of the name? Or just generally spelling your child's name wrong or making up a name so they will be cool and successful in life? Is it like the lady whose name was Scarlett Fever and she was an amateur rapper or dj or something like that.

I personally wouldn't think of Ellis as being a girl name, but it's not the worse male to female crossover that comes to mind.

I like Ellis, but I don't know that I would use it myself.

Dazzlynn made me go D:

The only time I've heard Ellis used is Ellis Grey on Grey's Anatomy, so I only think girl.

Wow, those names are way gross.

I can't really comment on Ellis, because I know a family with this last name, so I just can't see it as a first name

Ellis is my father's name so I can only see it as a man's name myself. It's not any worse than any other gender crossover name I guess though.

I like Ellis for either gender.

Dazzlyn just reminds me of when Finn in Glee suggested the baby name Drizzle to Quinn.

You know how baby names trickle down? Like the over-educated rich people start the trends by naming their kids "weird" stuff and then 10 years later it trickles down and gets popular, and five or ten years after that it starts getting misspelled and starts sounding trashy instead of classy and THAT is when it goes out of style? Well that is what is happening to the "classic" names that have been popular for a while. Poor Izzabelle. I feel bad for Dazzlynn but at least she has the "my name is ORIGINAL" line to pull out. I wonder if Dazzlynn is a takeoff on the various misspellings of Jasmine? It has kind of the same sound.

The originality line is true! It can't be spelled incorrectly if it doesn't have a proper spelling to begin with!

Good lords, those are awful. D:
At least Izzabelle's is based on a legit name, but Dazzlynn... Aw, poor Dazzlynn, lol.

I see Ellis as a boy, but I suppose it could work on a girl.

Dazzlynn and Izzabelle are atrocious.

I don't mind Ellis on a girl. It's not something I'd use, but it's not horrible either. I think it would sound better on a boy.

lol, I think Drizzle is better than Dazzlynn...at least it's a real word.

Poor girls! I like Ellis for both boy and girl names.
