of Lucinda? I love the name Lucy, and while I don't feel that it needs a longer alternative, I've been trying to think of one that I like. I'm not overly fond of Lucille, and I'm not sure how I feel about Lucinda. I think I like it, much to my surprise, because it's not the type of name I would usually like! Not sure if I would use it, though.

ick, don't like Lucinda at all... have you considered Lucia? One of my close friends from high school is named Lucia and we always call her Lucy (pron. Loo-CEE-uh btw, I highly dislike Loo-shu)

Oh yes, I like Lucia a lot better :) like I said, I don't think I would ever use Lucinda .. it just popped into my head the other day! My thing with Lucia though is like you, I don't like it pronounced 'Loo-sha' either and I don't really want a name with an ambiguous pronounciation, you know?

i also like Luke (pronounced Loo-kee) which is hawaiian for Lucy (i'm pretty sure it's hawaiian, anyways), but the only problem is that it's prounounced wrong all over the place!
Maybe i just like it because i'm familiar with it...

This is also pretty :) I think for myself, personally, I'm going to stay away from names that end with -anne/-anna/-ana, since I'm Julianne. :p I don't want people thinking I named the kid specifically after myself or anything.

I like Lucy, and Lucinda was our "full name" choice to go with it. we canned it when we named our son Linus, though :) but it's still on our "somewhere in the future if we have 10 kids and need a girl name and Linus is like 15 or so maybe we'll use it and hope no one makes the connection" list :)

I'm not too crazy about any of the long forms, Lucy is cute though, don't see why it needs to be a nickname, I think it stands well on it's own. Of course, I also always enjoyed watching I Love Lucy on Nick at Nite.

I grew up with a Lucinda called Cindy, so I wouldn't use it for that reason (hate the nn Cindy). I like Lucy on its own, or Lucia or Louisa if you want a full name. There's also the more obscure Lucélia, which is a Spanish portmanteau name from Luz + Celia.

I like Lucinda! Lucia is alright, but it would probably get many mispronunciations. I went to high school with a Lucia, and she pronounced it "Loo-CHEE-uh" ('ch' sound as in cheese).

I like Lucy on its own, but if it has to be a nickname for something... I guess Lucia is okay. I'm not too fond of Lucille and think Lucinda is just plain ugly. =|
