Friends of ours just announced the birth of their son. Born to parents Heather and John, Aristides John, nickname Ari. What do you all think? Personally, I wouldn't pick the name but I think it's alright.
i love the nn Ari, i knew a guy named Ari and he was pretty rad. "are-ee" is how it was pronounced. Aristides is pretty long, but it's a strong name, i like it, but with that as a first name and John as a second name, it seems kind of like a letdown. Though i fully understand having dad's first name as the son's middle name, it's just like BIG STRONG NAME then Oh yeah, and John! haha
I dunno, I agree with about a classic and short name, but I think something stronger than John would have suited it better... but again, it's dad's name, and i totally get it. just NMS with john following a name like that.
Yeah they really wanted to use John in their somewhere, but Heather didn't didn't want a John Junior. Oh and I should have mentioned, they like the idea of "AJ"as a nickname if it fits later in life. Personally I prefer Ari to AJ, but that's just me!
I agree -- it's *too* simple. Something like Benjamin or Matthew or something like that would work better, I think. It needs something classic and average and simple and strong, but not something as boringly short (although a great name, when used the right way -- with the right middle name or the right first name) as John.
Wow, Aristides. Haven't heard that one in years, makes me think of an older man, regal, dressed in a suit or something. It's not really my style, but I prefer names like Aristides or Theodore (you know, adult names) than many of the little-boy names people come up with these days. And I think Aristides John is a nice combo.
Aristedes is amazing. Warn the parents: with a name like that, he must always look good and be crazy intelligent. Classy. Tasteful. Sophisticated. Intense. Soft-spoken but firm, because the name speaks for itself. He will positively own the commoners namee Caedyn and Tristan. .
I've actually never heard it before, but it just jumped out at me. I love mythology names (I assume it is one), but it's so hard to find good ones for boys. So, yeah.
Plus, it is such a nice name from the trendy male names going around. It's one-of-a-kind, which is irresistible to me. :D
