[identity profile] sarahness.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So I'm having another baby in September and my mommy instinct has me thinking it's another girl.

My daughter is named Amelia Marilyn.

I'd like to use Catherine as a middle name, as it is my closest cousin's middle name (and also the name of a great-grandmother).

Names I'm contemplating:
Ivy Catherine (although her last name will start with a V so her initials will be IV, phonetically the same as her name, and I'm not sure how I feel about that...thoughts?)
Jane Catherine
Genevieve Catherine
Josephine Catherine
Elise Catherine

Please share any opinions or suggestions! Thanks in advance! :)

josephine is our number one girls name right now, so i love that. i also love genevieve, which is high on our list (as is amelia) and i like ivy too, quite a lot.

the ivy/IV thing doesnt bother me at all. i think it could actually be cute, and its not like you did it intentionally you know?

catherine is gorgeous and classic. love it.

I like Ivy Catherine and Genevieve Catherine.

I don't think IV would be too bad... there probably will be few times she will go by just her first and last inital. I'd be concerned if Ivy V. sounded bad or ICV was bad. I don't think they are.

I think Ivy Catherine is my favorite. :) The initial thing doesn't bother me at all.

I like Josephine and Genevieve the best. Both sound very nice with Amelia I think that you have very nice choices so far and congrats on your pregnancy. :)

I really, really like Jane Catherine :)
Jane and Amelia is a wonderful sibset, imo!

Ivy Catherine is also pretty, but I don't like the idea of Ivy V., as well as IV = Ivy

Those are all great names! Jane Catherine is probably my favorite.

I knew a girl named Amy whose middle name was Michelle and last name started with Y. She thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever that her initials spelled her first name. Not quite the same, but still, I don't know, your kid might love it. She might never tire of telling people. Over and over. Like every time you're in a group project and she writes her name on the paper. Or any time her last name comes up, ever. Yeah.

Even if she doesn't love it, I don't think it's a big deal.

I like Jane the best but I'm partial (my almost-four-year-old daughter is a Jane). I'm not sure it sounds the best with Catherine though. I think I like Josephine Catherine the best as a combination, and Amelia and Josephine are an awesome sibset.

I like all of you options except for Jane Catherine, which is a bit bland IMO. Ivy and Genevieve are my favorite, and both work with Amelia as well. And though I think that IV is amusing, I don't think it's bad.

Ivy Catherine (although her last name will start with a V so her initials will be IV, phonetically the same as her name, and I'm not sure how I feel about that...thoughts? Technically it would be ICV.

I like Genevieve or Josephine the best with both the middle name of Catherine and your daughter's name.

Elise, Jane, and Ivy are all okay, but don't sound as nice with it, I don't think.

Other ideas:
Elizabeth
Louisa
Caroline
Alexandra
Madeleine
Madeline
Evelyn
Sophia
Eleanor
Vivian
Willa
Audrey
Victoria
Rosalie
Stella
Justine

I love Elise Catherine the best. Both names are independently fantastic and the combination seems well-balanced.
I love Genevieve but I think that combined with Catherine it seems particularly long and heavy.
Ivy is super cute too. (I'm having a Holly in April!)

My two favorites from your list that I think go nicely with Amelia Marilyn are Ivy Catherine and Elise Catherine. I actually think the IV initials with the Ivy first name are kind of cool. It's not super weird and it might be something the kid enjoys--I know someone whose name is Katie whose last name starts with T... her initials are KT which sounds like Katie, and she really likes it.

Elise isn't one of my favorite names ever, but I like it, and it sounds great with Amelia. Plus, the flow of Elise Catherine is just lovely.

I agree, if you love both names the combination will grow on you. Plus they don't sound bad together...actually rather nice if you have a two-syllable last name.

I love Ivy Catherine. Genevieve Catherine is gorgeous, too. Paired with Jane and Elise, I'd use Catherine as the first name (Catherine Elise, Catherine Jane).

Out of all those listed, I like Ivy Catherine best. I don't think the initials are weird. Actually, it's kind of cool.

Julia Catherine is one of my favorite combos.

You mean the -ia ending? I don't think so. You could go with a Juli- name, if it's an issue.

Juliana
Julianne
Julianna

Elise Catherine!! Adorable. My suggestions: Norah Catherine & my dirty little secret name Louella/ah - I've always wanted to pair it with Grace but I think it could own with Catherine

I really like Ivy, and I don't think the IV thing is too bad. There are MUCH worse initial combo's out there. I also know a Katie who's initials are KT. No biggie.
I like all your other name possibilities except for Jane.

i think her initials being IV if you named her ivy would be fine. it's not like her initials spelled something offensive out or anything.
