I wonder if her parents couldn't agree, and so combined the names they liked? I had a friend growing up whose parents did that. She is Tinessa, from Tina and Vanessa.

i have a friend whos parents did something like that too.

her mom wanted to name her shelly, her dad wanted to name her lena. so they named her shellene.

she only goes by shelly now.

It's pronounced with a schwa instead of a short "i"...so like Vanessa with a "T" instead of a "V." I grew up with her so it's hard for me to think of it as anything but a normal name. :)
