Does anyone know any good Pagan/Wiccan names? I had a really hard time finding a decent website. Everything I found was a little too 'hippy' and out there. Any suggestions?

I'm having a really hard time decieding on a name for a boy and I'm due within a month. I'm Irish, my boyfriend's Italian. I'm Wiccan so I was hoping to find a name that reflects on my heritage or my religion (baby's getting his last name and he's picking the middle name, so the first name is alll me :] )

And I'm so sick of baby name websites. I think I might just lose my mind. This kid don't get a name haha. ;]

Considering Wicca is a made-up religion, it might be a bit difficult. But I digress. Just look through any polytheistic pantheon and pick a name you like. Some ideas are Apollo, Bran, Thor and Mars.

You're going to have to be more specific if you want a name that reflects your religion. Pagan, even specifying Wiccan, covers a large number of different traditions. You may as well say 'I believe in Abraham' and then wondering why you're getting names varying from Eli to Mohommed to Peter.

Many neo-Pagan/Wiccans use Celtic beliefs as a basis for their religion, have you tried looking up names under the 'celtic' category on websites? That would cover Irish as well.

It's too bad that it's not a girl or the name Aradia would be perfect. It's the name of a figure from Italian folklore who was said to bring the return of the old religion to Italy.

Why not pick a name from whatever your pantheon of choice is?

I've looked at some Celtic names, but not many. I'll give it another go. Baby name sites are starting to give me a headache, that's why I came here :)

I like Rowan and Gavin. Boyfriend vetoed Gavin right away, that butthead. If anything this is so difficult cause we can't agree on much haha.

I bought this book years ago when I found it while I was working at a bookstore. I wanted a book of non-traditional names for playing The Sims. It has a lot of unique and interesting names. There's chapters for names taken from things like kitchen spices, flowers, names from mythology, etc.

Thank you for explaining that, I really had no idea. It's not like people told me before you or anything. And Catholicism is part of Christianity.

I should have explained myself better, though -- Wicca is a truly made up religion, in the sense that at least Christianity and company can claim divine inspiration. Wicca's just some weird interpretation of Celtic religions, patched together by people who hardly know what they're doing and complain about ~~The Burning Times~~. It stems from the 1950s, and while it claims to be some hearkening back to the Good Ol' Days of Pre-Christian Europe when everyone worshiped nature and the Mother Goddess, it's pretty historically incorrect.

You can call Pastafarianism a religion, but that doesn't really make it legitimate. And honestly, the amount I care about insulting Wiccans, of all people, is very little.

She wanted a "Wiccan name." There's no such thing as a "Wiccan name" a la Mohammad or Mary, since there's no basis for the Wiccan religion.
