liam. will/willy/bill/billy are kind of ucky and I know he'd get called one of those.

i don't really like either of them. william just sounds old fashioned and boring to me, like it only sounds like the kid was named after a relative, never that the parents just liked the name or something. very blah. also hate the nicknames.

liam sounds pretentious and looks incomplete. i don't hate it, but i'm not a fan.

My ex-husband was a William. A William, III.

I do not like William on its own. It sounds stuffy. I don't like Bill or Billy. Liam sounds pretentious. Will was what my ex went by; I like that a lot.

I like William with the nn Liam. Liam just doesn't seem like a complete name to me.

William and just use Liam as a nickname.

I think William is nicer but Liam is perfectly ok as a nickname for it.

If I have to pick, Liam. It's a bit trendy for me, but William is one of those very traditional names I just can't get behind.

Liam. William is just ugly and boring and will probably end up being called Will, which I don't particularly care for.

Both suck, honestly. But William isn't terrible. Liam is #2 on my ugly names list.

I have a Liam. I love William too but Liam is not common in the Southern US (we live in VA but are from MS and no one seems to know how to pronounce it and I get a lot of confused looks). We debated naming him William and calling him Liam but in the end decided just Liam was good on its own.

William. Liam is always an option for a nickname, but he can also be Will or Billy or William. I always go for the more formal name as a legal name with the nickname as just that. Give him something more adult and formal sounding to put on a resume or job application.

William nn Liam. Although I can understand going with straight up Liam if that is all you'll ever call him, and/or if you really hate William/Will/Willy/Bill/Billy/etc.

william--there are a lot more options for nicknames (including liam), it's classic, and i think it goes well as a first and a middle name with a lot of other names/last names. plus, liam has become so trendy and i'm kind of sick of hearing about it.

William. I don't really like Liam, plus I have a hard time seeing it as a full name. Also, Liam is trendy, but William is classic.

Liam a million times because Williams get called Billy/Willy as children and I hate that. It is also the name of an ex boyfriend, but he was an awesome guy and we're still good friends really but it'd just be weird.

Wyatt

It's like, "Why it?" "It" being something so ugly, etc you use it instead of "he" or "she". I think of an ugly baby.

Sheryl Crow song.

"All I wanna do is have a little fun before I die,"
Says the man next to me out of nowhere
It's apropos of nothing
He says his name's William but I'm sure
He's Bill or Billy or Mac or Buddy
And he's plain ugly to me
And I wonder if he's ever had a day of fun in his whole life
We are drinking beer at noon on Tuesday
In a bar that faces a giant car wash
The good people of the world are washing their cars
On their lunch break, hosing and scrubbing
As best they can in skirts in suits
They drive their shiny Datsuns and Buicks
Back to the phone company, the record store too
Well, they're nothing like Billy and me, cause
All I wanna do is have some fun
I got a feeling I'm not the only one

Liam.

I had an ex named William (and I found it painfully plain) and my Dad's name is Billy.

I can't ever decide if I like Liam or not... Reminds me of England, since it was popular when I lived there.

William is a classic, but I've always found it kind of boring.

I'm not particularly fond of Liam, but I have to argue there are many names far uglier lol. But yes, I agree, Wyatt is one of them! What other ugly names have you got? Girls names?

Can't really think of any off the top of my head as far as girls, and not sure if I have a #3, I probably do, but it's more of a mental list and my mental capacities aren't do so well today, LOL.

The thing with ugly names is, well NAMES, ya know, not things people make up or misspell. And I TRY to keep foreign names off my list because it's a cultural difference.

Oh! Gretchen is one of my ugly girl names. And George would probably be my #3. I generally don't like any of those names typically found on 90 year old people. Hmm, Oscar cause I think of the fish which is very ugly. Damien for personal reasons. Harry, Harrison, Hermonie, Reagan (and all rhyming names). Bob.

William is one of my favorite boy names and I really like the nickname Will.

I work with a five year old named Liam Jack who sometimes gets called LJ.

Liam.

In Australia William tends to be pronounced "Will-yum" and I really hate the sound of it.

William. My reasoning is that, while Liam is a legit name on it's own, William gives the option of going by Liam, William, Will, or any of the other nicknames for William, whereas Liam seems more limited.

Aww I definitely don't think a lot of those names are that bad!! :( But yeah, Gretchen is. And Ruth - such an ugly, harsh sounding name. Wdyt?

My husband's grandma is named Ruth, I REALLY don't like it, heh, she wanted our baby named after her, at least as a middle name and I didn't say it to her but I was like nooooooo. It really is too harsh.
