First a question!

What are your favourite Irish names, male or female?

My fathers family is full of Irish names, but they're mostly very common (often anglicized) ones - Sean, Deirdre, Caitlyn, Erin, Patrick, etc. And it's a tradition I'd like (eventually) to carry on, however I don't want to reuse any of our names and I'd like to find less common onces, here are a few I like so far:

Female:

Liadan
Eavan
Lile

Male:

Finn (or maybe its original spelling Fionn)
Eoin
Declan (suggested by the boy, whose family is also very irish)
Kiernan (another of his suggestions)
Riordan

Secondly, a few names, WDYT?

-Sibling Set (cousins daughters)
Grace (3)
Sophia Berkeley (infant)
Grace is a family name, I kind of hate the name Berkeley but I suspect it may be a surname from my cousin's husbands family.

-Sibling Set (girl i went to high school with):
Mylie (2)
Ava Lynn (infant)

-Sibling Set (another cousins babies):
Andrea (5)
Ervin Jr (1 year)

I'm not big on any of those names, Grace is probably my favourite even though I usually dislike the Joy, Faith, Hope, etc type names. After that Sophia or Ava I suppose. Poor Mylie, right?

I love Kieran, but my husband says it reminds him too much of "Karen" and would never use it for a boy. Boo!!

My favourite Irish names are Fionnuala, Clodagh and Riordan. There's probably more, but they're the ones I love the most to actually remember.

When I was pregnant, we had the name Liadan picked for a girl and Finn for a boy. We now have a son named Finn. It goes without saying that I love your taste in names. :)

my favorite irish girls name is brighde (pronounced breezha, pronounced just like the plant/flower/whatever freesia, only with a b).

i am absolutely in love with the name saoirse, but my husbands cousin already named her daughter that (sister is maeve). i also like fiona and aoife and siobhan.

our top boys name is finnegan/finn, currently.

i also love owen, seamus and rowan but they are all already in the family (x2 in rowans case). my husband has a very irish family!

I LOVE Kiernan and Riordan is also very nice, i think they deserve more acclaim - and I like them much better than the increasingly popular Finn... I hope you consider using one of them! ^^
