NMS, but not horrible. However the Y in lane is redundant and stupid. I know a Lane, there is nothing wrong with it. It would be destining the child to say "Layne, with a Y" his entire life.

Also, I refuse that whole "boy, father names it, girl, mother names it" but mostly because I'm insanely picky and would never leave something like that to even my husband...and we have pretty similar tastes!

I hate when there are hard AY sounds in both names. It's so trendy-sounding.

I agree with you in most cases, however, my boyfriend's daughter is named Rayne and I think it is one of the most beautiful and unique names I've ever heard.

Layne Dale almost makes me think of like...the name of a town or something! Dale Layne sounds better in my opinion, if he's stuck on those two names.

The Y makes it seem much more feminine to me. The names together are a bit choppy.

I agree with everything said here... though sometimes I think I'll be tempted to say 'I carry kid for 9 months! I name it!" but I don't think I could ever do that o.o someone had to have a part in making tat baby other than me huh?

Hey that's a great argument! I've pulled it out a few times.

The thing is, they had all the FUN part in making the baby and you have to deal with 9 months of misery and then child birth and post partum and a screaming baby every 1 1/2 hours throughout the entire night for about the first month. All they have to do is deal with your crazy mood swings and hold your hand.

I do feel a bit more entitlement to the say of things. Of course, he can veto a name, too, but I certainly feel that I have more say.

Dale is kind of nice, but Layne Dale does not flow at all. Also, Layne seems kind of girly to me.

When it comes down to it I'm going to have final say. If a compromise can be made that's great. But I'm going to chose and like the name I want.

I had no idea so many people hated my middle name, lol. Oh well. I don't hate it, I guess. I'm not really a fan of Dale, it makes me think of King of the Hill/that kind of character, but it's not bad as a middle name. I've seen Lane/Layne on several boys before, so that's fine.

I'd be okay the opposite, let hubby name a girl, I name a boy. I like way more boys' names.

I have a female friend named Layne, and Dale makes me think of Ch-ch-ch-chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers!!!!!! or just Chippendale's.

We've had no troubles coming up with a name we both want, it seems when it sticks for one it sticks for the other. But I do get final say in just about everything, LOL:)
