I'm not usually a fan of "made-up" names, but the name Deladis is used in a movie I love (Maggie Greenwald's The Songcatcher), and I just can't get over how fascinating it is. It isn't exactly pretty, and I think that's what I love so much about it.

I got Fionn to look for some origins for me, and she came up with a few things: she found Daladis used as a name, but didn't know if someone stole it from the movie or not, and she found -dis as an established ending in Scandinavian girl names.
I don't know, I just love saying "Deladis Slocumb." I think she's the most brilliantly named movie character I've ever encountered.
