My husband and I bought an RPG on Friday and one of the characters is named Leliana. I like it and with Lily as a nickname it's become a serious contender for a girl's name.

WDYT?

Edit-Pronounced Lay-lee-ana.

You can call her Lei for short (Lae/Lay)

Very pretty! It looks/sounds Hawaiian.

It's a beautiful name:) And I love Lily, and Leila is another possible nickname, even Ana....a lot of nickname possiblities.

I looked at, thought to myself, "ooh, lei-lah-nee". And then I realized that that's not what it is. This, Leliana, I do not care for.

I think it's beautiful. She may feel odd being named after a totally random RPG character, but at least she'll have a lovely name while feeling odd. :) If you're going to call her Lily, be prepared for her full name to get written down as Liliana, like, a LOT. Personally I would use nickname(s) only sparingly; why shorten something as lovely as Leliana?

For that reason I would spell it Leiliana.

I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of it. I'm not a fan of the "lay" sound in the beginning.

I'm not a fan.
Sounds Hawai'ian, so I think it looks better spelled Leiliana.

It's awfully close to Liliana, so not being a legit name I bet it's going to be confused A LOT. I like Liliana, though.

Did you and your husband get Dragon Age by any chance? my husband plays it non-stop and one of the characters is Leliana pronounced like Lay-lee-ana. I think its a nice name...I wouldn't use it for my own child but for a character in a game/story I think its nice.

I prefer either Liliana or Leilani for an actual person, though Leliana is pretty on paper for a character.
