[identity profile] missamerican.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I have revised my list. I tried to put them in order the best I can. I believe I'm having a girl so..

I've got in the habit of calling her Sunshine for now. But before January little Sunshine is going to need a new name... I've been thinking:

*Charlee/Charlotte Austin       [note: I love just Charlee but I'm worried about the "that's a boys name!" thing.. and I don't like Charlotte quite as much]
*Reagan Madison / Reagan Addison / Reagan Marie-Addison
*Gianna Ariana
*Caitey Andersyen
*Alyson Galilahi
*Madelyn Leigh
*Holland Monroe
*Hannelore - needs a middle name.
*Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake
*Denver Marie
*Valley Channing
*Hailey Montana / Hailey Lee / Hailey Andersyen
*A'merie - needs a middle name.
*December Cailin

last name is Taylor.

Thoughts/suggestions/etc?
I don't mind criticism but please don't be rude; most of the names have meanings behind them.

Hmm, honestly? The only one that doesn't make me want to scream and set myself on fire is Gianna.

So what meaning do the very special (and I mean special) names Valley, Charlee, and A'merie have to you? Since you mentioned they do actually have meaning and aren't just trendy pieces of crap ganked off MTV, I'd LOVE to know.

Is Andersyen pronounced like the surname or is the y pronounced?

Denver I see as a boy's name.

If you like calling her Sunshine, you could always call her Sunny.

I live in Denmark where Andersen is a common surname (it means "son of Anders"). It is pronounced SEN but I guess it can sound like SIN and the D is not pronounced. But in English-speaking places they will pronounce it as SON because that's what they are used to...and I think the Y might confuse people.

I actually like your name, Jamie. I would like Jamie for a boy. I like the spelling Jaime but I have never seen it spelled that way on a male.

Yes, I would leave out the Y so people don't read it as YEN or something.
You could use Andie as a nickname. I think Andie is cute on a girl.

Congratulations on your baby! :)

I really like a lot of these - I'm a fan for the Mikaela's etc. however it's nice to see someone with an original list!

I actually really like Caitey, and also Reagan...

A'merie is cute too! I also like Charlee!

Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake seems a bit over the top! >:P

Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake--say what?
Valley is terrible, Hannelore is too.
I kind of like Holland
Madelyn is good.

Ariana Monroe :)

I like Charlee but not with Austin. It would be great with a more feminine mn. I like Gianna and I love Ariana but not together, too much "ana". My maiden name is Anderson and I've always pronounced it Anders'n mostly-- more like SIN than SON. My nickname in school was always Andy/Andi and even though I've been out for several years, many friends from school still call me Andi when they see me so that name has particular warm fuzzies attached to it for me=)

In this list, my favorite is Holland Monroe

This is a little painful to read...
*searches*

*Reagan Madison / Reagan Addison / Reagan Marie-Addison - this is probably the least stomach turning, as it's normal, although nms.
*Gianna Ariana- I don't like gianna but I appreciate it's a nice normal Italian name. Ariana is fine.
*Madelyn Leigh- Please spell it properly. it looks just... urghh awful. Madeleine is beautiful & authentic.
*Hailey Montana / Hailey Lee / Hailey Andersyen - Montana is yuck but its the best out of the 3. Hailey Lee sounds terrible "hey, lee lee" & Andersyen is totally made up & is a surname that's not even half way to being cute for a baby girl.
*A'merie - needs a middle name- What's with the apostrophe?
*December Cailin- This... actually i possibly like. Ember would make a nice nn.

When someone requests you aren't rude, and comments such as;

So what meaning do the very special (and I mean special) names Valley, Charlee, and A'merie have to you? Since you mentioned they do actually have meaning and aren't just trendy pieces of crap ganked off MTV, I'd LOVE to know.

Are posted, wouldn't you be a little pissed? I know i would. It's called respect. Most mature people have it.

...

Now that's out of the way,

I like a few of the names you have here, Have you thought of Charlee as a nickname for charlene? The names a bit dated but it could work?

Gianna is such a beautiful name.

I dont think it needs anything too strikingas a middle name as by itself it sounds fine. Something simple like;

Faith
Faye
Sage
Paige
Louise

Also love love love the name Channing.. And obviously Montana :)

*Charlee/Charlotte - I like the nn Charlee for a girl, but if you don't like Charlotte as much, you shouldn't use it. Charmane, Christine and Christina could all be Charlees I think.
*Reagan Madison/Reagan Addison/Reagan Marie-Addison - I like the way these sound but I feel like Reagan should be spelled Regan, like Shakespeare did. It sounds best with Marie, although I LOVE the name Addison.
*Gianna Ariana - Love them both but not together:
Gianna Rose
Gianna Grace
Gianna Joanne
Gianna Josephine
Gianna Noelle
Gianna Leigh
Gianna Marie

Gianna Belle
Gianna Elena
Gianna Mae
Gianna Luz (light)
Gianna Arielle
Gianna Denver
Gianna Isabel
*Caitey Andersyen - I think Andersen, as the y is so weird. Not krazy about the name Katie, REALLY not crazy about the spelling.
*Alyson Galilahi - LOVE Alison in all its forms. Any of the nn's above would work with this name.
*Madelyn Leigh - I like the spelling Madelyn, as I think it looks simpler. If you're a simple family with simple names, it works. But if you're into classic and lovely, Madeleine is better. I love the name either way.
*Holland Monroe - I like this.
*Hannelore - any of the names above would work I think. I like the nn Lorie.
*Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake - my fave of this name is Aiyana. Akiah is ok. NOT together.
*Denver Marie - Denver is better as a mn I think.
*Valley Channing - Meh. Weird.
*Hailey Montana / Hailey Lee / Hailey Andersyen - I like Hailey, but not with any of these middle names. Did you say them out loud? Hailey Lee? See my first list.
*A'merie - needs a middle name. - One syllable or two with teh accent on the second (Rose, Noelle)
*December Cailin - Reverse it and it's better. I hate month names.

*Charlee/Charlotte Austin - I hate boy names for girls, and here you've got two of them. =/ If you're not crazy about Charlotte, don't use it just so you can call her Charlee. But if you're going to name her Charlee, I'd recommend giving her a more feminine middle name.
*Reagan - I like Reagan Marie, although it's nms.
*Gianna Ariana - Gianna is nice but not with Ariana.
*Caitey Andersyen - I don't like how you're spelling Catie and Andersyen doesn't even come close to sounding like an acceptable middle name. Catie Gianna might be nice.
*Alyson Galilahi - Again with the made-up spelling. Galilahi -- huh?!
*Madelyn Leigh - I like it, but spelled Madeleine.
*Holland Monroe - It's alright, but it might be a little too much. Maybe a different mn?
*Hannelore - No..
*Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake - Waaaaayyy too much.
*Denver Marie - I really don't like Denver at all. =/
*Valley Channing - How is Valley a name?
*Hailey - I like Hailey, but I'm not crazy about any of the middle names you chose. Hailey Ariana is cute.
*A'merie - I don't like names with apostraphes.
*December Cailin - I really like Cailin, but I hate December. Maybe consider Cailin as the fn? Cailin December would be better, I think.

I don't like the rhymey-rhythm of Gianna Ariana, but I love Gianna (it's kind of similar - what do you think of Gia Grace?).

I like Alyson but the Galilahi is...a bit strange, to me.

Aiyana Akiah Ahinawake is a bit much.

I rather like Holland Monroe, but I think you need to have a certain - posh - attitude to pull that off.

I don't think spelling it "Andersyen" will help people pronounce it the way you want, I think it will just cause more confusion. I'd suggest going with just Andersen, it will be close to your pronounciation - and as a middle name I don't imagine it will be said often enough for correction to be annoying. Also, I'm not fond of "Caitey" as a given name (no matter how it's spelled). I also think that spelling is made-up and kooky, but if you like it spelled that way why not go with "Caitlin" and use "Caitey" as a nickname?

Madelyn Leigh is pretty. I'm not a fan of the spelling but I think it's decent and not too confuddled.

Denver Marie and Valley Channing (and sort of December Cailin) are kind of nice but sort of scream HIPPIE to me, though that's only a problem if you think it is.

Charlee is nice, I think. I see it and think "Shar-lee", and don't go "it's a boy's name" at all.

All in all, I think my favorite is Reagan Madison, or Reagan Marie (but not Reagan Marie-Addison, that's quite a mouthful).

I appreciate that all (or most) of the names have a special meaning for you, but if they are names that are perceived as being kind of "out there" and wacky, do you really want your daughter to have to feel she has to defend and explain the names - especially as they won't necessary have any meaning for her? I can just see that explanation taking a tone of "my crazy mom".

Oh and PS and completely unimportant since the show probably won't be around long enough to be memorable, but "Hailey Montana" makes me think immediately of "Hannah Montana" which is a TV show on the Disney Channel (I think, might be Nick or Noggin).

I don't really like any of them. But suggestions for using the NN Charlee.

Charlene
Charlena
Charla
Charlize (Yes, Theron, but it also means "Womanly")

And then 'Char' but without the L (but would still work for Charlee if you wanted)

Charisse
Charmaine
Charity

These names are nms for the most part, but if you don't like Charlotte, don't use it just so you can use the NN you like.
