My boyfriend told me today that a girl he works with named her daughter....

Anakyn

And apparently it has no Star Wars correlation.
I was appalled. LOL. I raised my voice and said "WHAT?!?!"
And my boyfriend told me to stop yelling. I just feel bad for that little girl.

What do you guys think? Discuss.

No Star Wars correlation? I call bullshit.

Anakyn is terrible, and especially for a girl. For one thing, it's spelled wrong!

I did know a dog named Anakin (and I liked it), but that's totally different...

I just don't even... It's not even spelled right! And that's the least of the problems.

Haha I like it. But then again I'm a star wars nerd..... I don't know if I'd go as far as to name a kid that though.

Well, I hope she doesn't mind answering "Like the Star Wars character?" or responding to Star Wars jokes for the rest of her life.

The spelling, and the fact that it's on a girl, bad. The name Anakin...I would use, on a boy, if I married a Star Wars fan. Or somebody who would put up with it.

It's possible that they didn't use it for the movie, and that wasn't a factor in the decision at all, but they definitely got it from Star Wars at some point. If they heard it on somebody else once, then that person got it from Star Wars, but I think it's possible that they used it just for the name and Star Wars had nothing to do with it.

My old science teacher's daughters were named after Star Wars characters, LOL. Her whole wedding was Star Wars themed!
Her daughters are Anaka (I don't know how to spell it) and Leia.
They're really cute, so I don't mind the names. (:
