I'm watching an episode of House Hunters on Hulu. It seems pretty recent. The family has three daughters:

Brantley, age 20
(I'm not sure if that's how they spell it, but I don't know how else to spell it, even for a girl.)

ETA: A friend just referred to her as "Brant."

and 11 or 12 yr old twins:
Logan
Evan
(Their names were on blankets so I know they are spelled that way.)

I just don't get it.

Are we sure they're girls? Those sound like boys names to me, (and WTF is Brantley?)

My uncle's first wife really wanted a boy. She got a girl first and named her Jessica...nothing too girly about her, but definitely girl. But her second was another girl...so she named her Ryan, kept her hair in a short boy cut, and with her clothes, you could barely tell she was a she at younger ages. It was a huge difference in looks in the girls and, well, their mom was crazy. I just don't know what possesses someone to try and have boys out of girls...just be happy and embrace what you're given!

not going to argue with this at all, I think it's nuts she'd actually try and turn her daughter into a son >.> But I will say there are names that to some people are just more feminine sounding. For example to me Damien (spelled like that, not with an a) manages to paint a very feminine look in my head and I'd love to name a daughter that but not because I want her to be a boy o.o Here we have many boys named María José and trust me it's not because parents want a girl and not a boy.

So if I get to have a little girl named Damien I'd be more than happy with her being a girl and that is the reason I picked that name... same with boys named Ashley, a lot of the times parents just like the name and think it'll work.

I get so annoyed with people assuming someone with a boys/unisex name was named that because their parents wanted a boy. My parents wanted all girls - and they got all girls and we all happen to have unisex names. I would have been called something completely different had I been a boy.

I know it is the case sometimes (as with the little girl called Ryan) but it's a hurtful assumption.

exactly, like I said I don't think what the lad did with that poor little girl was right but hey like in your case with your parents I'd not slap on Damien on a boy and a girl because hey I didn't get what I wanted... if I got a boy I would name him something completely different than what I pick for my girl (and vice versa) be it a unisex name or not.

Evan and Logan will always be male names to me.

Brantley is just bad all around.

Sounds like someone wanted a boy, lol.
I don't like Logan, I like Evan (on a boy), and Brantley is just...weird-ugly. =/

I also don't like the assumption "they wanted a boy!" because of the names. My parents wanted a girl... but my name is still Jamie. I also love unisex names for GIRLS(not so much for boys).

I like Logan and Evan but not so much Brantley. I don't like the nickname Brant either. Evan is pretty and I'd love it more if my best friend's crazy ex wasn't named Evan. I hate that girl.

I do sort of like Evan for a girl, I will admit that. I'm not a fan of either Logan or Brantley. Holy masculine family overall, though!
