Sometimes when I'm bored I browse parenting/family blogs. Today I came across these gems...

Scottlyn (g)
Kaisley (g)
Briggs (b)

These in particular struck me as atrocious... I've never heard of them being used before. WdYT?

One of the almost-two year old boys at my daycare is named Briggs. I've been working there since he was like 10 months old, and I still think it's a weird name.

The other two are really bad.

Briggs is a last name.

YUUUUUCK. I bet Scottlyn is going to be called Scottie all her life. Poor kid. And Kaisley looks like someone combined Kaitlin and Paisley into one. At this rate, I actually long for the days of the Jennifer craze.

I don't like any of them. Scottlyn and Briggs are especially awful. Kaisley just looks like someone is trying too hard to be different/trendy. It would blend right in with the Kylie's and Kaylie's.

Scottlyn seems very awkward to me. I guess they were going for a "name-ified" version of Scotland? Kaisley makes me want to bang my head against a wall. But Briggs takes the cake. I know some people love the surname-as-first-name, but I don't, and this one isn't "name-like" at all. Also, I'm from a military family, and "the brig" means jail. As in, "that sailor peed on the admiral's door, throw him in the brig." So I can't imagine naming a child Briggs any more than naming him Jail Cells.

I don't understand this whole Scottlyn, Irelyn thing. I love Ireland, and would use it, so it's not that, but land and lyn are not the same thing and it just makes everybody look like idiots.

For some reason, Briggs isn't bothering me like I feel it should. My first thought is brig, meaning jail. My second thought is the Myers-Brigg personality test.

The other two definitely make me gag.
