What are our thoughts on Andromeda?
I really like it but I guess it's a guilty pleasure because it's a little out there.
Also I know my husband would never go for it.

This post brought you by the fact that I just found out about the Clash of the Titans remake.

I like it (esp. with nn Andi)but much like you I think it would be a guilty pleasure name and my husband would likely veto it.

I like it, but I'm pretty sure my husband won't go for it. =[

Andromeda reminds me so much of Harry Potter!
I would LOVE to name one of my children that, but I doubt my boy would like it.
It's a very cute name!

Yea I think Harry Potter and Clash of the Titans. It's a beautiful name but I couldn't use it for one of my kids. Maybe as a fictional character...

She's Tonks' mother/Bellatrix and Narcissa's sister.

No. It just sounds like something I would name a cat rather than a human, imho.

No, I don't care much for it. Out there or not, I have my own names like that, but I don't find it to be an attractive name, to look at or hear.

I know, right? His number one boy name at the moment is Alexander Paul (which is his best friend's name and his middle name). I think it's just okay, although it does have a meaning.

A good friend of mine seriously considered it for her daughter. I didn't like it at the time (though of course I didn't say anything!) but I think Andy or Meda are actually cute nicknames, and I like it better than other long similar names (Antoinette, Antonia, etc). It's unlikely that she'd end up going by her full name though, which turns me off.

PS My friend ended up choosing Twyla for her daughter.

i think it's more than a little out there =/
i'd use it as a middle name rather than a first

I love it! We literary types are reminded of Andromeda Black Tonks from Harry Potter and/or Andromeda "Anna" Fitzgerald from Jodi Picoult's The Pact, probably, but it's still a beautiful name with the right blend of spunk, femininity, and otherworldliness. It requires guts, but I say go for it anyway.

I love it! But I'm sure my boyfriend would veto it as well haha.

And also, it's a name from a character in a Harry Potter book ;)

I used to love astrology, so once upon a time the constellation would have been what came to mind first. Now, though, I almost automatically think of the Harry Potter character, lol.
I...kind of like it.

Reminds me of My Sister's Keeper. The main character's real name was Andromeda, but they called her Anna.

it does remind me of my sisters keeper, but I do think I like it. I'm not sure I'd ever use it.
I like Andi, Anna, or Meda for nicknames. I know someone called Dorothy Meda and that's the only time I've ever heard Meda

I know an Andromeda! Everyone always talks about how her name is so unique and cool, haha. Only issue most people have is pronunciation, but none are too far off. Go for it.
