I don't tend to like -issa names anyway, but I know a woman named Marissa who is the bossiest know-it-all two-faced snot. Can't stand her and can no longer stand the name.
It was my favourite name when I was 5, I wrote endless stories about a baby called Marissa, and got my parents pretty sick of the name. I don't have much of an opinion of it one way or the other now though
I don't like it. Whenever I hear it, I just think of some really whiny person (marista = to whine in Finnish). Plus I think there's an actress that has that name that I don't like either, so there you go.

Date: 2006-06-27 03:04 am (UTC)one thing that is tough is a nn - i knew a girl who went by "Reesa", which is odd, and "Mari" just seems like a cop-out from such a pretty name.
I'd have to agree that I prefer Melissa like the above poster, but Marissa has its merits
