Oct. 19th, 2009 01:28 pmI ate out last night and two names of waitresses stood out to me--Linnette and Gennifer. Linnette has a nice sound and isn't something you hear often, but I think I would prefer the spelling Lynnette. Isn't that the traditional spelling? Now, that doesn't even look quite right to me... Gennifer is just gross to me.
Completely unrelated (because I noticed as I was about to post that it could be taken as a commentary on waitesses), but does anyone know of a site that has information on names and socioeconomic status, either by mean or mode?
Also, I have a nephew now. His name is Colton James. It sounds fine together, but I don't really care for the name Colton. Ah well, he's a cute little bugger anyway. ;)

Date: 2009-10-19 06:35 pm (UTC)Gennifer makes me gag.. and reminds me of how people are constantly trying to spell my name (Jessica) with a G here in Italy..
Congrats on being an aunt!! :)
Colton is totally NMS, and to me it belongs with that sort of "90's names for boys" like Corbin, Kaleb, Colin, etc.

Date: 2009-10-19 07:44 pm (UTC)Gennifer doesn't really bother me. While I don't condone misspelling names, I like Gs much better than Js and spelling Jennifer with a G makes it closer to its original form, at least.

Date: 2009-10-19 10:00 pm (UTC)Yeah, Colton's not so great. I dislike my niece's name, but she herself is very cute, so I understand.
