What do you think of the name Harlow? Does it seem like a girl's or boy's name to you?

I'm 5 months pregnant and we're pretty sure it's a girl. We've decided on the name Evangeline May but I'm really starting to like Harlow!

The last name is Dolan. I love Evangeline to death, and I lovelove the nickname Evie, but sometimes I feel like it's just a tad too long... and  I would never be able to find another name to go with it (for future siblings). I couldn't use a short name for any of her younger siblings because that would just be ridiculous.

So what do you guys think?

Evangeline May Dolan 
or
Harlow May Dolan?

If it matters, my top names for future siblings are Colette, Archer and Jasper. I feel like Harlow goes better with them.

But maybe I'm just crazy!

Edit: Okay I think I've changed my mind back to Evangeline. I just needed reassuring I guess. :P We were happy with it, I don't know why I'm trying to complicate things!

I don't mind Harlow, but I think the repeated OH vowel doesn't work, especially with the repeated L. I also think Evangeline goes better with Colette.

I don't like it. It seems trendy, after Nicole Richie's daughter. It also reminds me of "hollow" or "harlot". Evangeline Dolan sounds much better than Harlow Dolan (and I don't think it's too long with such a short last name). There are also plenty of names that go with Evangeline.

I like Evangeline about 1000x better. It's not that long,and I think it flows better with your last name.

To me, Harlow sounds like a boy's name. I'm not sure I like it, either way.
I like the name Evangeline (and the nickname Evie) and think it sounds better with your surname.

I definitely like Evangeline way better. schexyschteve sums it up the best--it reminds me of 'harlot'. Evangeline May is beautiful, I'm glad you've changed your mind back to that =)

I prefer Evangeline. Like a previous poster said, Harlow seems really trendy right now. Evangeline is unique and beautiful. I think your daughter will stand out in a really good way. I also think it flows better with the last name Dolan. The double "Oh" and "L" sounds in Harlow Dolan make the combo sound harsh.

I think of Nicole Richie's daughter, immediately. I haven't heard the name on anyone else.

i love the way harlow sounds (until i remember the word harlot :( ), but i think evangeline is prettier. my vote is for evangeline, even if i think harlow sounds better with may. lovely names! :)

I really like Harlow, and I actually like it better than Evangeline, but it is kind of trendy at the moment. And since you like Evangeline too, it might be a better decision in the long run. Plus, Evangeline has more nickname options! =)

i REALLY dislike harlow. all i think of is harlot. its a horrible horrible name. plus, theres the whole "i copied a celebrity" factor that will ALWAYS be there.

evangeline isnt a favorite of mine, but i like it much better.

and jasper is one of our top boys names! :)

I'm glad you decided to go with Evangeline. It's a very pretty name and not very common... Harlow is very trendy and very awful.

Just adding another vote for Evangeline - I've loved it forever, partly because I loved Evie but wasn't as keen on Evelyn, so went seraching for an alternative...

But, if it helps, if it's still at the top of my list when I have kids, I'm likely to end up with Evangeline Doran. I think the flow works really well :D
