Amish Names

My step-father used to be Amish, and I've learned there are some interesting names floating around Amish communities...

I wouldn't say all of these are odd in the grand scheme of names, but there are definitely a lot I'm suprised are used in the Amish community. Like all of them but Delilah, Abraham, Amos, Eli, Ezra, Melvin, and Solomon.

Anyway, I like:
Delilah
Frieda
Lizzie Mae - well, Lizzie as a nn
Nancy - as a nn or okay by itself
Sadie - prefer as a nn

I don't really love any of the guy names. I do like Abram, but I don't like the ham part of Abraham.

In the community my step-father came from, their only naming rule was that they had to have "plain" names; I was pretty surprised that some of these met that criterion, as well!

I'm not very fond of any of the boys' names, either. Lizzie Mae is used as her entire first name, and as far as I know, it's not a nn for Elizabeth or anything; the same goes for Sadie Ana, which is pronounced as if it's one word, rather than two separate names.

I would use Delilah or Ruby and I like Amos, but not enough to use it.
