After much debate over all the good Bible boy names, my husband and I have found only one that we can both agree on. Noah. I wasn't so hot on it at first, but over the last couple of weeks, I am growing to like it better. I would prefer a name to jump out to me and to be able to say 'I love it!' but that isn't happening with any name this time.
It seems that Noah is quite popular, and that is usually a big downside to me, but actually, as many kids that we know with Bible names, we don't know any named Noah, nor have I ever in my life known a Noah. Which is probably why it made the top 10 in our list.
It goes well with our other son's name- Micah. And really, when we named him, we felt his name was pretty rare, but now it is in the top 100 in America, so you really never know anyway if a name you pick will get more popular anyway.

Anyway, as for the middle name....

we are considering the name Noah Grey. WDYT? I had a lot of G names on my list and they did seem to sound really nice with Noah... one thought was Grayson- which happens to be the name of my husband's hometown. But our last name ends with a 'en' sound, so I tried dropping the ending and just sticking with Grey. I prefer this spelling of the color, we had a little debate about that too. Gray vs Grey. I think as a name Grey looks really great!
Our other two children have unusual middle names, so I like having something different. Our son has my husband's middle name- Venis (pronounced like the city) and our daughter has my mom's maiden name - Snow... which was my hubby's idea and he loves it. The only problem is that they both have middles that have family connections. I can't come up with any other for this son that is from family except possibly Louis after my grandfather. We also like Barrett after my hubby's mom's maiden name, but it would cause some family issues if we used it, because of the fact that hubby was raised by his dad's parents, not his mom.
Any thoughts?

ps. We are wondering if it will be too weird and confusing to be saying No to a toddler named Noah alot... like 'no Noah!' Anybody have a son named Noah, was this weird?

I love Noah, and I love Grey; they are both on my own list, though I use the Gray spelling. I think that Noah Grey sounds good together.

Noah Grey is a really nice combo. It's not my style, but it's very earthy and pleasant.

Not sure on the saying no thing. My cousin (once-removed)'s son is named Noah, but I've never thought to ask her about that. I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of an issue. It's not like most toddlers listen to the word no anyway! Mine sure doesn't!

Great name. I have spelled it Grey my whole life. Gray looks odd to me, but probably because I was taught to spell it g-r-e-y.

Noah is super insanely popular around here. I know a bunch of people who have named their baby Noah. However, I like Noah enough that I would still name a baby boy Noah in spite of all that. It's a great name!

The spelling always interested me. I was taught that it could be spelt either way, but to always use one spelling in the same essay/report/novel/etc. I figured out this past summer that one's a British spelling and the other's American.

Interesting tidbit. :)

I figure it may be because my kindergarten teacher was from Canada? Grey, i think, is supposedly the international spelling.

Yup, I'm pretty sure it is. Like how 'theatre' is spelt that way everywhere except the USA.

I think Noah Grey is fantastic. For all the talk about Noah being popular, I've never met a Noah, either. I like the British spelling of Grey, it seems more elegant somehow. I can't speak for the "saying no" thing, but all the Nora's and Nolan's in the world seem to manage. As far as the family connection, well, you can always say he was named for dad's hometown, if a little indirectly.

While Grey is NMS, I LOVE the name Noah. The combo sounds great together, regardless of my personal feelings of the name Grey. Overall, it's a great name.
