I was looking on my friend's facebook and was curious if he's still dating a girl he used to. No, he's with Alyx now. Even though it's not that difficult to work out what it is, I think Alex for boys and Alix for a girls is a lot better.

Does anyone like Alyx? Also, do you prefer Alex/Alix or do you think it depends on gender (like I do)?

alex for both genders. i've never seen alix before, but i think it looks ridiculous. alyx looks better than alix to me, but alex is still best.

My sister's middle name is Jane, but she calls herself Jayne. I think it's partly with her being 15 and thinking it's the cute or pretty way of spelling it... maybe?

I've only known one Alix (female), which was in school, so I don't think it's popular. The Alex's I've known have been boys, so I guess I haven't minded the "ix" version for girls. If I was able to pick boy or girl for the name, I'd pick a boy to call him Alex because I agree, Alex is the best.

Alix isn't the same as Alex. Well, it could be, but not necessarily. It's pronounced a-LEEKS and it's a French form of Alice.

That being said, I think Alex of any sort should only be a nickname, I don't like random Ys, and I find Alex a boring nn on a boy but have always loved it on a girl (short for Alexandra).

...so I guess it's a bit of Alex and Alice? I'm not sure if it's because I live in England but everyone always called her "Al-icks".

I like Alex, but that's my name, so I really shouldn't judge. It's short for Alexandria, but whenever someone see's it written out they call me Alexandra.
