New babies
Aug. 21st, 2009 09:45 pmTwo people I know have had babies in the last week.
A colleague had a baby boy who they have named Archie. I don't like it. It's very trendy in the UK at the moment to give kids these twee, old-fashioned names. Every bloody child I hear of is called Alfie, Archie, Evie, Millie or something similar. Yuk.
The daughter of some friends of my parents also had a boy the other day. She's named him Jidé. How ugly is that? I believe they're pronouncing it Jih-DAY. Her parents are terribly embarrassed.
WDYT?

Date: 2009-08-21 09:07 pm (UTC)Archie...is not my style, but I don't hate it. I've never met an actual Archie, so it's a little...different for me (in a good way). However, if that name were used everywhere here...I think it's the type of name I'd really hate.

I don't like Archie and I'm kind of indifferent towards Millie. oh, and Alfie is my cat's name, so I associate that name with a big orange cat now, lol.
