What do you do when you're completely sick of all of your favorite names?

I'm fine with my girls names (I have so many so it's hard to get sick of them all!), but my boys names irritate me.  Except for my #1 (Benjamin), they all seem so boring to me!  I just want to pitch 'em and start all over. I guess I'm just extra picky with boys names.

I go back and forth with mine. Sometimes I get really bored with my original favorites (James, Benjamin, Samuel) and want to go with something "different" (Jasper, Silas, August, etc.), but then I think they sound stupid after I say them too many times.

No suggestions from me, just some empathy.

I like to pick one name (usually a girls' name) and come up with a list of names that I think "go with" it, using various websites. Sometimes I come up with something new.

First of all, your icon is made of win. It's been soooo long since I've come across the Babysitter's Club, WOW.

Anyway, my tastes always flip-flop between the unusual to the traditional (right now it's the latter), and I always like to go searching for new names to breathe life into the favorites I already have.

Realize that I'm 19 and won't be having kids for another 4-5 years at absolute minimum, so it really doesn't matter.

That said, I currently don't love any girls names (I like/can tolerate some, but don't like anything enough to want to use on a future child) and am just going to assume that that will change by the time I'm pregnant. Boys names on the other hand, I feel like that list is never ending..

I get this a lot too... so I turn to meanings... I don't know how important those are for you but they are to me and I go to a website that lets me search by meaning and then find things I like =)

It's hard for me to get sick of my favorite names. ^_^ I have many favorite names. Some I wouldn't use for a person, for example Thanatos. I absolutely love the way it looks and sounds, and normally I dont pick names based on meaning but in this case, Thanatos is Greek for Death so... yeah. I would call him Thani for short....

I'm trying not to read them too much. Names are words, and if you say them too much, they just sound like moosh.

Saw your list, so I'll suggest a couple you might like.

Conrad
Arthur
Marcus
Byron
Edgar
Montague (I actually knew one in high school. Went by Monty. A little more interesting than Montgomery.)
Percival
Elliot
Caleb
Gerard
Curtis
Miles
Grant

Good luck with your list problems.

I know what you mean. There are plenty of girls names I like, but hardly any boys names. I'm just not worrying about it right now, because it will be years before I have children, anyway.

I try to just stop thinking about names in general, because I think a lot of the reason I get sick of names is because I think about a particular one too much.

Man, you sound a lot like me! Right up to Benjamin being your #1 ;) (I'll never get sick of it, either. I have loved that name for as long as I can remember. I'm just afraid I'll meet a really big jerk with that name who'll ruin it for me or something). Nathaniel has actually stuck as my #2, though, for a long while, and I can't see myself getting rid of that one, either. Even after my fourteen year old cousin said it sounded like a dorky name ;) Jonas is tentatively my #3, but it's not as set in stone as the other two and I have some reservations due to the Jonas Brothers (ugh). Keeping in mind the facts that I'm 20 years old and don't even have a boyfriend, and that I probably won't have more than two boys, though, I'm not too worried :P These are really the only 3 names that I like enough to use, however, at this moment.

As for girls, I have a lot of girl's names I like as well! I do get sick of some of them, or waver (one day I love Autumn and Layla ... the next day, not so much) but Alexandra is my current top girl's name, and has been for a while. Some days I'm not even sure about that one, though :-/

ANYWAY! Sorry to go off on a tangent there :P
