[identity profile] mudinherblood.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Okay so I'm 4 months pregnant (don't know the gender yet) and cannot decide on a single name. I put together a quick name list, so if you guys could vote on which ones you like and don't like, that would be awesome. :) Just preparing you though, these names are all pretty random!

Thanks!

This is my name list:

You have some very nice names on there! My personal favorites are Colette Dolan, Coraline Dolan and Ezra Dolan, but Jasper, Evangeline and Silas sound really good with your last (?) name as well. I think names ending in -an, such as Kegan or Kieran don't flow at all paired with Dolan, because of the repetitive -an sound.

normally I like Micah, but with your ln, it sounds almost like "my condolen...ces"

Cambria, Evangeline, and Coraline are my favorites.

Is Arien pronounced like Aryan? I've never heard it before, but even if it's not, I might not be the only person to think so, and Aryan isn't the best thing to have a name be associated with.

I think that the an/en names don't flow very well with your last name, because there's too much repetition. I think the names that sound the best are Jasper, Silas, Ezra and Evangeline.

Most of them aren't my style, especially the girls (to be completely honest, some of the girls names sound like the sort of thing a teenaged anime fan would come up with). Also, Cambria just reminds me of the Cambrian explosion. I do like Kieran (though I prefer Ciaran), Micah, Ezra, Colette, and Evangeline.

I vote for Tegan or Jasper.

Are you pronouncing Tegan like Tee-gan or like Tay-gan? The former is the (from my understanding) correct pronunciation (and the one that sounds better), but the nicknames make me think you're saying it as Tay-gan.

I like Ezra, Colette, Evangeline, and Kailani. Arien is way too close to Aryan for my liking.

How is Koen pronounced? I'm stuck on pronouncing it as Köln, although I know that's not right.

I voted against most of your girl choices because they didn't sound like names, just pretty syllables thrown together. I don't go for that at all. But I do like Corinne and Coraline.

You had some really good boy choices. I really like Caspian, Riordan, and Jasper. Micah is okay as well, though I voted against it because it can also be a girl's name and I'm not really into unisex names. :)

I was thinking the same thing about names that a teenaged anime fan would come up with!

I only like Jasper, Silas, Micah and Coraline. The others didn't look as pretty and too hard on the eyes. at least for me!

Köln is kind of hard to break down in English (it's the name of a city in Germany, although I cannot for the life of me remember what its English name is). I guess the closest would be ker-ln, but you kind of have to swallow the L, if that makes sense.

I understand, but (1) everyone is going to pronounce it Tee-gan, so she's probably going to spend her entire life correcting everyone and (2) Megan would be more like Teg-an, wouldn't it?

Tay-gen just doesn't make any sense to me, I guess.
