Aug. 16th, 2009 01:26 amWell, as you all know, I like to make things really complicated and I like to be as indecisive as I can possibly be when it comes to almost everything, but baby names especially. Which brings me here to my fellow baby name gurus to ask more questions!
DH & I are FINALLY (FINALLY!) 99.9% certain that we are going to name our daughter Amelia Samantha Jane Rodriguez.
We even discussed future children's names and decided if we have a boy he will be Sawyer. And of course his middle name will be after his Dad (Emery Lee). If we have another girl, she will most likely be a Lydia, Adelina or Camilla. We only want to have two children, since we're having a girl first we're naming her after me, saving Dad's name for the second child (hopefully a boy), but even if our second is another girl, her middle name will be Emery Lee/Leigh as well to honor my husband.
So what do you think of:
Amelia Samantha Jane?
And which of these do you like individually and which sounds best with Amelia?
Sawyer Emery Lee
Lydia Emery Leigh
Adelina Emery Leigh
Camilla Emery Leigh
Lastly, what do you think about names Lee vs. Leigh? I think Lee is more masculine whereas Leigh is the feminine form of the name.

Date: 2009-08-16 10:07 am (UTC)I think Lydia Emery Leigh would go great with Amelia. Sawyer Emery Lee sound okay, and if I sort of change my image of Amelia a bit then I can see those two names going well together too.

Date: 2009-08-16 12:37 pm (UTC)Sawyer Emery Lee is a very nice name for a boy. It might be trendy but I still really like the name. It reminds me of Tom Sawyer which is one of my favorite young adult books.

Date: 2009-08-16 01:51 pm (UTC)Sawyer makes me think of Lost but I like it and it goes well with the other names. I'm not a fan of Lydia. I definitely ageee that Lee is the masculine and Leigh the feminine.

Date: 2009-08-16 02:13 pm (UTC)I love, love, love Lee on a girl, as opposed to Leigh. Strangely, I'm indifferent to it on a boy, but since it's my fiancé's middle name, his dad's middle name, AND my dad's middle name, we've already decided that if we ever have a son, we will pass that on to him.
Congratulations on picking the name!

Date: 2009-08-16 03:08 pm (UTC)I like Sawyer with it and I like the sound of Sawyer Emery Lee.
For a second girl, I like Lydia the best. Camilla is a close 2nd. I don't like Adelina.

Date: 2009-08-16 05:15 pm (UTC)Lee/Leigh is such the filler middle name, one might as well spare using it.
Of course, if there's a specific namesake, then you should go for the original spelling, especially since making Emery Lee into Emery Leigh sounds a bit odd.
Lydia is too similar to Amelia, and maybe Adelina is too, but Camilla is great|!

Date: 2009-08-16 06:23 pm (UTC)I like Camilla Emery Leigh. But if you wanted to spell it Lee, I don't think it would matter, given that's it's a middle name.

Date: 2009-08-16 07:04 pm (UTC)As for Lee vs. Leigh, I don't like either but the female Lee/Leigh I know spells it Lea, which I see as the prettiest and most feminine option. :)
Congrats on the baby!

Date: 2009-08-18 12:10 am (UTC)I don't think you should choose a name that sounds "best" with Amelia but I've posted about my distaste for the notion of sibsets before.
I like Camilla although Camille is nice too. Lydia and Adelina are nice. I do not like Sawyer, Emery or Leigh.
Sawyer is a surname. It is trendy. This is the root of my distaste for the name but the fact it sounds like soy milk and soy beans doesn't hurt.
I don't like the name Lee/Leigh at all. The spelling Lee is the masculine "version" but using Lee/Leigh as the ending to a name will be so dated. Every few kids are named something Leigh, and with lovely Jane why use Lee? What about another L name or something with the Li sound in it, like Lily, Leah, Annelies, Lena (further Helen/Helena/Elena/variations) and for boys Christiano yeah it's unrelated but whatever. Christiano is nice.
