[identity profile] familyrodriguez.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Well, as you all know, I like to make things really complicated and I like to be as indecisive as I can possibly be when it comes to almost everything, but baby names especially. Which brings me here to my fellow baby name gurus to ask more questions!

DH & I are FINALLY (FINALLY!) 99.9% certain that we are going to name our daughter Amelia Samantha Jane Rodriguez.

We even discussed future children's names and decided if we have a boy he will be Sawyer. And of course his middle name will be after his Dad (Emery Lee). If we have another girl, she will most likely be a Lydia, Adelina or Camilla. We only want to have two children, since we're having a girl first we're naming her after me, saving Dad's name for the second child (hopefully a boy), but even if our second is another girl, her middle name will be Emery Lee/Leigh as well to honor my husband.

So what do you think of:
Amelia Samantha Jane?

And which of these do you like individually and which sounds best with Amelia?
Sawyer Emery Lee
Lydia Emery Leigh
Adelina Emery Leigh
Camilla Emery Leigh

Lastly, what do you think about names Lee vs. Leigh? I think Lee is more masculine whereas Leigh is the feminine form of the name.

i'm not a huge fan of samantha because it's sort of outdated (i've never met anyone younger than me with the name, so i have a hard time picturing it on a baby) but given that it's a namesake and a middle name that doesn't matter. i think it sounds lovely together, and amelia is my favorite girls name atm and something i'll probably use.

sawyer emery lee sounds nice to me, i like it a lot although it might be a little trendy.
of your other girls names, i like them all. lydia emery leigh is my favorite even though it's a little sing-songy.

also, i agree with lee = boys and leigh = girls. my female cousin's name is shannon lee and a lot of teachers always expected her to be a boy because her name is so unisex. i don't think it would have been an issue if her parents went with leigh over lee.

Congratulations on finally picking a name! I really like it! I'm really coming around on Amelia. Is there a nickname you plan to call her? My favorite is Millie, but I kind of like Mia too.

I think Lydia Emery Leigh would go great with Amelia. Sawyer Emery Lee sound okay, and if I sort of change my image of Amelia a bit then I can see those two names going well together too.

Well, Amelia is one of my least favorite girl's names but congratulations on picking a name! I think Lydia Emery Leigh sounds the nicest. Camilla is too close to Amelia and Adelina reminds me of the wild boars javelinas.

Sawyer Emery Lee is a very nice name for a boy. It might be trendy but I still really like the name. It reminds me of Tom Sawyer which is one of my favorite young adult books.

I love Amelia!

Sawyer makes me think of Lost but I like it and it goes well with the other names. I'm not a fan of Lydia. I definitely ageee that Lee is the masculine and Leigh the feminine.

I think Amelia Samantha Jane flows very well. I'm a big fan of both Samantha and Jane, and Amelia and Lydia would make a very cute set of names for sisters.

I love, love, love Lee on a girl, as opposed to Leigh. Strangely, I'm indifferent to it on a boy, but since it's my fiancé's middle name, his dad's middle name, AND my dad's middle name, we've already decided that if we ever have a son, we will pass that on to him.

Congratulations on picking the name!

I love Amelia and I think it sounds great with Samantha and Jane.

I like Sawyer with it and I like the sound of Sawyer Emery Lee.

For a second girl, I like Lydia the best. Camilla is a close 2nd. I don't like Adelina.

I prefer Lee for both boys and girls, although I'm not that keen on it full stop. I understand that Leigh is the typical feminine version, but I hate the way it looks.

Amelia Samantha Jane is great and I think you should stick to it, since it's been going around between you two long enough (except if she comes out and looks like something else entirely).

Lee/Leigh is such the filler middle name, one might as well spare using it.
Of course, if there's a specific namesake, then you should go for the original spelling, especially since making Emery Lee into Emery Leigh sounds a bit odd.

Lydia is too similar to Amelia, and maybe Adelina is too, but Camilla is great|!

I love Amelia Samantha Jane. It's a beautiful name.

I like Camilla Emery Leigh. But if you wanted to spell it Lee, I don't think it would matter, given that's it's a middle name.

Jane is my grandmother's name and I love it. Camilla is my first choice for baby #2, Lydia is my second. (Although, I had a friend named Lydia and everyone teased her that her name rhymed with chlamydia. So, be forewarned.)

As for Lee vs. Leigh, I don't like either but the female Lee/Leigh I know spells it Lea, which I see as the prettiest and most feminine option. :)
Congrats on the baby!

I hate Lee because people always pronounce my last name 'Lee' when it's not so it makes me cringe. I've known guys spelled both Lee and Leigh, so I find them both masculine. To me the girl way to spell Lee would be Lea, but yeah, don't like it no matter how you spell it.

I love Amelia. A friend of mine has an Amelia (No nickname) and she's such a gorgeous kid :D

Amelia is incredibly popular as you likely know but congratulations for finding a name you both like that isn't awful. Is both Samantha and Jane for you? I like Jane.

I don't think you should choose a name that sounds "best" with Amelia but I've posted about my distaste for the notion of sibsets before.

I like Camilla although Camille is nice too. Lydia and Adelina are nice. I do not like Sawyer, Emery or Leigh.

Sawyer is a surname. It is trendy. This is the root of my distaste for the name but the fact it sounds like soy milk and soy beans doesn't hurt.

I don't like the name Lee/Leigh at all. The spelling Lee is the masculine "version" but using Lee/Leigh as the ending to a name will be so dated. Every few kids are named something Leigh, and with lovely Jane why use Lee? What about another L name or something with the Li sound in it, like Lily, Leah, Annelies, Lena (further Helen/Helena/Elena/variations) and for boys Christiano yeah it's unrelated but whatever. Christiano is nice.

Psh ignore that bit about Christiano
