Aug. 13th, 2009 08:19 pmOkay, this is kind of an odd question but are there any names that you like because of how they sound, but hate how they look written down? My partner just mentioned that he loves the name Shiloh but hates how it looks on paper. I realize that I don't like it written down as much as I like it said. Do you have any names like this?
Conversely, are there any names that you like written down but don't like when said aloud? I think the name Penelope looks kind of pretty on paper but I hate hate hate it when said aloud. What about you?

Date: 2009-08-14 06:25 am (UTC)I like Oona written, but I'm not in love with the sound. I love how the name Orly sounds but I hate Orli and Orly in print.
Also, I hate almost any --eigh name written; like Hailey sounds fine, but I hate how Hayleigh looks. Ditto Kyleigh, Myleigh, Ryleigh, etc.

Date: 2009-08-14 06:37 am (UTC)I like Anika spelled that way, but I would want it to be pronounced like Annika but I don't like how that looks. Which is unusual for me because I believe it is more commonly spelled Annika and I normally prefer the most common spelling.

Date: 2009-08-14 07:26 am (UTC)I don't like the name Alicia in general, but this spelling drives me crazy. I /always/ want to pronounce it A-lee-see-ah. To me, this spelling is kind of soft, whereas the general pronunciation of A-leesh-a is really harsh. XP
I know there's another one...I see it on here ALL the time, but I can't think of it now. X(
