I was looking through the links at behindthename.com and there i found namenerds.com. There is this article how to make a unique and creative name.

I love namenerds. They have some great stuff on that site. The creative name how-to is really tongue in cheek.

I love their name quiz: http://www.namenerds.com/uucn/namequiz.html

They've had some site trouble and it's all discombobulated over there. I hope they get it worked out because it is a good site usually.

Oh man, I actually met a little "Nykkulaaz" (Nicholas) once. I felt so bad for that kid. Ha, and the only reason I knew how he spelled it was because the dad had NIKKULAAZ tattooed up his arm in huge letters. :\

"I want my Khaytelynne to stand out from all of the other Caitlins! (you can click here for 154 more ways to spell Caitlin)
Maybe so, but at the end of the day, when you yell "Khaytelynne!" in a crowded playground, it will be indistinguishable from all of the other mothers/fathers/grandparents/babysitters there who are yelling "Katelin!" "Caitlin!" "Kaitlyn!" etc. Do you really want your child to have a name that is only distinguished from the names of several of his or her classmates by the way (s)he has to spell it out all the time? Picture a little girl in first grade, learning how to spell. "My name is K-H-A-Y-T-E-L-Y-N-N-E" "

HOLY CRAP I was thinking basically this exact same reasoning a few weeks ago. Commented on the Eizic (Isaac) post, I think.

My sister's name is Caitlin and we've found out more than a few of these when people attempt to spell her name. Me and my brother used to tease her by pronouncing it close to the traditional way "Koyt-leen".

45% Classic Conservative, 35% Classic Unusual, 15% Classic Eccentric, and 5% Modern Eccentric.

The test was mostly spot on since I loved many of the names on the Classic Conservative list and really loved a lot of the ones on the Classic Unusual List. I found less than I liked on Classic Eccentric, and just a few on the Modern Eccentric (London, Piper, Seraphine, Shiloh, Talia for girls.. I'm not really sure why I got that - must have been Lorelai). Actually, the Modern Conservative list was closer to my preferences than Modern Eccentric

I'm really surprised how many of my favorites were in this quiz. I love Alessandra, Charles, David, Evan, James, Johan, Cordelia, Jude, Elizabeth, Emma, and Sarah.
