Girl #4 (Not for me, thank God!)

A friend of mine is expecting her fourth daughter (I know, right?!). She has her heart set on Maxine and is getting some major flak from relatives.

WDYT about that name? The other three are Olivia, Stella and Scarlett.

She was also thinking about Ruby but people said that it was too close to Scarlett. =)

Any other name suggestions for this adorable sibset?

I don't like Maxine. :\ and I don't think it really fits the sibset.
Whatever she does, I hope she does not pick another name that starts with an S, because then Olivia will be the odd one out with all the three other sisters starting with an S.

It's not my style, but I definitely have a soft spot for Maxine, after knowing one :) she should totally go for it, it also matches well with her sisters!!

I like it. And I think it goes fine with the others. Personally I'm not all that fond of Scarlett - makes me think Scarlet O'Hara, not a character I'd want to name a daughter after personally lol. I love Olivia. Stella, I don't really have an opinion about either way, I think I'd like it more if I hadn't just read a fic where the cheap, trashy receptionist in it was called Stella lol.

The only name out of that sibet I can stand is Scarlett, but they do go together. I don't think Maxine fits. I'd go for something like Elinor or Abigail.

I like Maxine, and I think it's lovely with the others. Just enough old-fashioned and pretty. There's a Maxine in my grade, a very artsy Chinese/French girl.

Maxine reminds me of the movie 'Being John Malkovich', which is definitely a good thing. I'm not really a fan of the name itself though, I keep reading 'Maxime' (which is a legit unisex name here).
If she likes it, I'd say go for it, though! I think it goes nice with the other girl names.

Maxine isn't my style, but I think it would fit with the other names. I don't like ruby at all and agree it is very similar to Scarlett. I wouldn't name the 4th girl anything with an S, that would leave Olivia the odd man out.

I think Maxine does fit the sibset and it's a legitimate decent name. I just don't like it much myself... I don't like it when extremely masculine names are feminised, it just doesn't quite work. Like... how funny does Brucette or Waynella sound? I see Maxine the same way, except it just happens to exist.

I don't think it fits - the others are all, in their way, feminine and classic, whereas Maxine I find coarse and rather butch... but YMMV, of course.

i think it's a great name, and it fits with the other siblings alright (though olivia, stella, and scarlett are considerably more trendy and possibly a bit frillier than maxine, they still sound good together to me). tell her that her family will get over it once they get to know little maxine. :)

I think it works great with the sibset. I like Maxine, but I am biased because that is the name of one of the most badass, incredibly intelligent women I know. Too me it is the name of someone sassy and smart. :)
