[identity profile] sarahness.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
One of my good friends is having a little girl in November.

Her name-to-be? Addison.
Her brother? Austin.

WDYT? Too close for siblings? I think so!

It's hard to criticize her name choice since she's such a good friend. I'm not a fan of Addison at all, but aside from that, I think it's way too close to Austin to use. I wonder if she even knows how similar these names are. Should I let her know, or mind my own business? This baby naming business can be tricky!

I don't think they sound too similar. Then again my husbands family has a tradition of all the names starting with E. His parents are Eliseo & Erlinda, he and his siblings are Elisea, Emery, E.j., and Evanna.

I'm not a fan of all names starting with the same letters or sounding similar or rhyming or anything, but Addison and Austin doesn't sound too close to me.

No...how do you feel they are "too similar"? Same starting and ending letters? They share no other sounds, so that doesn't mean anything.

I don't think they're similar at all. I don't like Addison but that has nothing to do with how it works with Austin lol.

I don't think they're that similar. Same starting letter and ending sounds doesn't make them too similar.

I like Addison. Austin is not my style.

I don't think they're too similar, but I dislike Addison on girls.

I agree with what everyone else said, they don't sound that similar at all.

I grew up in Texas, and I associate both of those with names of cities. I don't care for them as first names for people.
