It's my name. I'm not a huge fan. You wouldn't believe the number of people who think they're comedians, saying things like, "I HOPE we see you soon!" or "You're hopeless! Get it? Hope-less?" I constantly think someone is talking about or to me if there are several conversations going on in one room because people use the verb so often. Plus there's just something unsavory to me about puritanical names (Chastity, Faith, etc.) in general.
Yeah, I can imagine that would be a problem--I just edited the post to say it would be more for a middle name, since the whole thing about hearing it all the time and thinking you were being referenced would get really annoying.
I think I'm probably more critical of it than other people named Hope I've met. And hey, at least I'm not named Jessica or Jennifer or something where you have four girls in a class with the same name.
Seems extremely cheesy to me. Like the person whose name it is can only ever hope to become a peppy blonde Republican who likes macrame, acrylic nails, and pictures of kittens romping in fields of lavender.
I don't like it. I love this *kind* of name (I love names like Faith and Charity), but not Hope. I think it's the "o" sound, for some reason I just don't like it.
As a middle name it's better than as a first, but I'm still not a fan.
My cousins name is Maya Hope and it kinda sounds like my hope. I love it. Hope is one of those middle names I wouldn't mind how popular it is because it's classic.
Depends on your age. I'm in my mid-twenties and there were far more Jennifers, Laurens, and Alisons around me growing up. The surplus of Ashleys and Amandas seemed to come a few years behind us in school.
