Do we hate Alicen? And if so, how much? lol


I like Alice a lot but I think I'd like it to be more of a choice as a nn rather than the full name. I feel like with Alicen you could have Alice, Ali, or Alicen.

Okay, first I have to state that my name is Alison, so obviously I'm biased in favour of my own name. However.

I would go with Alison or Allison as oppose to Alicen, because no one would ever spell Alicen correctly. Plus, with Alison, you could still call her Alice, or Ali. Alison also originated as a nickname for Alice, so it's got the same meaning and everything. Also, 'Alicen' kind of looks to me like a modern reinterpretation of the name, because it replaces the on sound with an en sound.

I think Alicen would be a torturous name for any little girl or young women. It makes her parents seem highly uneducated and aloof. Please don't do this to your child.

I really adore Alice on its own. Very pretty!
If you really want it to be a nn, though, I would go with Alison/Allison or Alessandra. I think Alicen is fine, its just that the word "lice" jumps out at me.

Why can't the name just be Alice? Alice is a lovely name all by itself; it's not a nickname.

You could just use Allison, and use Alice as a nickname for it. Or you could give her a different first name and use Alice as a middle name, then call her Alice.
