What do you think of the name Sidney (for a girl)?

I don't like it on a girl. I prefer feminine names, and Sidney doesn't say feminine to me.

It's great for a boy though.

Sidney always reads as male to me. I like Sydney, though.

To me, Sydney is more feminine. Sidney is masculine.

Sydney is my cat's name :) she's a girl. My husband wanted to name our cat Sid, but since we got a girl, we figured Sydney would be a good pick. We call her Sid though.

lol your title reminded me of Scream. "Sid! SIDNEEEEY!"
And of course I like it because of that movie.

Yes, this about calling her Cindy. I knew a Sydney in grade school - high school & had to literally, spell her name to people.

I like sidney on a boy....and I would name a boy that...if my aunt's sister hadn't named her daughter that. they call her sid and she is 6. she looked like a boy till she was well over 2 and so she was constantly called one by strangers.

I don't dislike it, but, unfortunately for my anti-kr38tyv self, I'd have to agree with the i/y distinctions that have been mentioned.
