I just finished New Moon and it got me thinking about the name Edward.  I was looking at the SSA website, and it's interesting how the name has been very slowly moving down the list.  With the popularity of Twilight, will the name start to rise for the first time in 100 years?

Edward is my dad's name.  He is Edward Allan.  It is also my brother's middle name, Robert Edward.

My sister had a baby boy when she was 16.  My dad wanted him to be named Edward, but my sister and I protested, saying that it was a "geeky" name.  Well, we didn't say that to his face, but we did to each other.  My nephew's name is Ty Mason.  I don't regret naming him that, (my sister picked the first name and I picked Mason), but as I look back, it wouldn't have been so bad to name him Edward.  I really like the name now.

So I was thinking that when I have a boy, which wont be for a while, I am going to name him Edward.  I am not sure yet if I want it to be the first name or not.  I really like the combo Liam Edward, but who knows if I will still like Liam years from now.  I also like Edward Sebastian, but again, who knows.

What are your favorite middle names for Edward?

I like the name Edward more because of Twilight. I actually have a friend who changed his name from Edward to Evan because he disliked it so much! That was a few years ago, his opinion might have even changed by Twilight, I'll have to ask him.

I like Edward Allen. I like middle names starting with vowels go best with that name. Edward Aaron, Edward Elias, Edward Ian...

I really don't like Edward, but that's just a matter of personal taste: it's not a bad name at all.

Liam Edward or Edward Liam sounds good, I think.

Edward was once my favourite name, and I still really like it, but I doubt I'd use it. Mostly because I don't like any of the nicknames, especially Eddie and Ed.

I hate Twilight, but I like the name Edward- it's my nephew's name.
(Also, it doesn't make me think of Twilight, it makes me think of the protagonist from the anime/manga Full Metal Alchemist. <3)

My nephew's middle name is Locke (pronounced Lock), which is normally very "ew" for me, but...we have an unusual, no-one-else-has-it last name, that makes it hard find names that "flow". Locke flows very well with it, so I'm okay with the name- for him.

I like the way Liam Edward sounds. :)

ive never read the twilight books or seen the movie, but it bothers me that its inevitably going to skyrocket in popularity now.

oliver edward was my favorite boys name before i met my fiance. now, middle name is changed to be after his father.

I loved edward. I would never use it now because of the books. there is a girl in my borth group whose son is named cullen.
