[identity profile] farting-nora.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm having a baby girl in November. My husband and I have decided to name her Marcy Ann.

Ann is a family name, it is the middle name of the oldest girl in every generation for several generations (It is my middle name, my mom's middle name, my grandma's middle name, and I think it may go back even farther than that).

We like Marcy because it is uncommon, but not so uncommon that it is weird. She probably won;t have to worry about having another Marcy in her class.

Her older brother's name is Adrian Maxwell.

What do you think?

Marcy is not my style, but not bad, either. I've known two Marcies in my life -- both Marcy nn for Marcella. One born around 1984 and the other born in the late 50s/early 60s, so definitely not popular, but also not unheard of. I like Marcy as a standalone better than a nickname -- I don't like Marcella at all.

I think it goes well with Adrian Maxwell (which, btw, I LOVE).

I like it.

I would ordinarily be kinda eh about the swapping initials, but I'm way too tired to care.

I like Marcy, nms style but it's nice. I used to use the name a lot in the stories I wrote in middle school =)

I don't love the name but I don't dislike it either. I like the vein of both marcy and maxwell. Its a good match for your little ones. they flow you know?

Personally I like Mercy better, but I have a thing for pilgrim names. :) And I adore Adrian Maxwell!

Marcy is...eh. The -ar sounds a bit too harsh for me -- I prefer Mercy or Marcy as a nick-name (someone mentioned Marcella above, and Marcia). I do like Ann, though, and the explanation behind it :) I'm a sucker for family names.

I have to admit, I hate Marcy. It sounds too cutesy. I just can't imagine a 40-year-old woman named Marcy. It doesn't seem to fit at all. I actually have seen a grown woman named Marcy... she was in her mid to late twenties, I believe... and it seemed ridiculous. Marcy doesn't seem to really fit with Adrian, either. I'd give her a name that's more solid and classy. That's my opinion, anyway.

I kind of go back and forth about Marcy. I think I like it, just not enough to use it myself. I prefer spelling it Marcie though.
