Leighton?   How do you say it?  Boy or girl name?

I'd say LEE-tun, and boy.

Lay-ton. I like it for a girl but would never personally use it.

Lay-ton. And definitely only for a boy... because of my favorite TV show Diplomatic Immunity. =]

Layton. It's a girl's name to me, thanks to Leighton Meister. I quite like it, actually, but not enough to use it.

Layton.

To me, Leighton would be feminine and Layton would be masculine. But I hate it either way.

I would say it like Peyton with an L instead of a P. I don't like it for a boy or a girl. The spelling looks feminine, but the name sounds masculine.

Layton. And it's a last name, so either, as long as it STAYS A LAST NAME.

Layton. I think it works as both, knew a boy in school with that last name and now I think of the actress Leighton Meester.

LAY-ton. And I think it's a boy's name. A posh boy, admittedly, but a boy none the less.

LAY-ton, and I like it better on girls.

LAY-tin/ton
The first time I heard the name it was on a boy from high school. It was years before I ever heard of it again so I think of it as masculine. On the pronunciation thing, the T usually wasn't enunciated so much. It was more like LAY'tIN The t almost gets dropped. It's hard to explain. Anyway, I think the above is the proper, non-lazy way of saying it.

I know it's LAY-ton, but LEE-ton makes more sense. And girl.

I'd say layton, but anything with a ton sounds like a boy to me.

I so hate the eigh.

I want to say Lay-TUN but I know of it being said Leigh-TUN. I think of a girl when I hear it said Leigh-TUN and when said Lay-TON I think boy. I think girl I would spell it Leighton and boy Layton.

Layton. Boy, spelled like that it's very feminine tho like others have said. I'd never use it though because of a place known for it's donuts around here =]

Lee-ton. And I'd say awful and androgynous but if I had to pick, boy. *shudder* The --eigh spelling does make it look really girly though.

lay-ton. The only Leighton I've ever known was a boy so I consider it a boy's name. Having said that, thanks to Leighton Meester, I don't mind it on a girl.
