A sibset I saw at the playground today:
Madelief Azalea (g, about 4 years old - Madelief is the Dutch word for a daisy)
Wolf Winter (b, about 2 years old)
Their mother was about 20 weeks pregnant and that's why we started talking about names (that's how I got to know their middle names). The newborn baby is either going to be named Violet Rose (for a girl) or Hunter (for a boy, middle name was still undecided).
Hm... I smell a theme here and I'm not sure whether or not I like it. The kids were really cute, though :P

Date: 2009-06-01 07:38 pm (UTC)I think parents should think about each of these scenarios before they choose names for their kids and remember that their children will only spend around 20 years being kids/adolescents and the rest of their lives (hopefully 60+ years) being adults. They need names that will work well for adults, not just age 2.
That said, I like Violet and I like Rose as a middle name, but not together. Madelief is pretty, but I don't like Madelief Azalea. Too flowery.

Date: 2009-06-01 08:20 pm (UTC)I don't think I'd ever use more than one nature name per kid, for one thing. Some of my favorite names for girls are Iris, Lily, Raine, and Skye, but I would use them separately. I also think I would do something like Iris Marie and Catherine Raine, where the first names aren't too matchy.
Just my personal opinion, obviously. :)
