Girl name help!
Mar. 25th, 2009 09:04 amI only just found out I'm pregnant, but I've been thinking of baby names for months XD My 21 month old's name is Elise Ava. We have a boy's name leftover from my first pregnancy, Donald Gabriel. He'll be going by the nickname Gabe. Hubby wants to carry on the tradition of first born son being named Donald, but the middle name changes every generation. He gets his way and I get mine, perfect. The problem is a girl's name. I almost went with Rory Elise with my first, but decided I liked Elise way better. My Husband thought we'd use Rory with this one, but now I'm not so sure. I love the sound of it, but I can't get over the meaning (Red King) and that it's very unisex/masculine. I don't like Aurora at all, so that's out. I've thought of naming her something like Rosalind with Rory as a nn, but that's not my style either. BLARGH. I've even started considering Robin, though I wouldn't do a nickname. Opinions on Rory or Robin?
I would love any name suggestions. I like names you don't hear very often, but that aren't too out there. Or old ladyish names with cute nicknames. Not a fan of trendy names like Avery or McKenna. Here's some names I like:
Caroline/Callie
Eleanor/Ella (probably too matchy)
Maeve (Husband vetoed)
Isla
Poppy
Stella
Ruby
Audrey
Olivia
Ivy
Renata
Lucy
Some of those names I probably wouldn't use for various reasons, but I figured they'd give you an idea of my naming style.
Thanks in advance!

Date: 2009-03-25 06:11 pm (UTC)Eleanor/Ella - this is pretty, but I think you're right that it's too similar to your daughter's name. Same goes for Isla.
Lucy - This is one of my favorites, though I prefer it as a nn for Lucille
I like Caroline Maeve nn Callie best using the names on your list.
Other Suggestions:
Amelia
Charlotte
Madeline
Claudia
Kate
Molly
