What are your thoughts on Nessa as a name. I currently use it as a nickname for my niece Vanessa but I wonder if it could hold up on it's own as a name (just curious seeing as my brother used Vanessa and I am in the habit of calling her Nessa =p)

i think it is Wicked, the musical, that has a character called Nessa-Rose that I kinda think is pretty. i would never use it myself... but I like it. I think nessa is pretty.

It reminds me of Wicked. I think it's cute, and would be a good nickname but probably not full name. I have a feeling the child would end up being called Nessie (like the Loch Ness monster).

I like Ness/Nessa as a nickname for Vanessa, but I don't think it's enough for a full name. Nickname for Vanessa or Agnes, yes, but not on its own.

i went to school with a girl named Anissa and her nickname was Nissa.. not the same i know.. sorry.. anyway.. i think it's better suited as a nickname with a full name to fall back on..

Either Nessa from Wicked .. or Nessie the Loch Ness Monster is what I think of.

Wicked is the first thing I think of too, so I love it!

It also makes me think of two people I know named Janessa (Vanessa with a J), so in that sense it is still more nicknamey to me... Hmm...

I guess it sort of depends on where you draw the line on what's a nickname and what's a name. Like to me, Eliza is a nickname, but for others it's a legitimate name of its own.
