What do you think of the name Scarlet? I've recently fallen in love with it. Edited the name to a better spelling ;)

And what are your thoughts on this: if I ever have a daughter, I'd like to name her after my mother, whose name is Judy. Do you think instead of naming a daughter Judy, I could use Judith instead?

Thanks everyone!

Judith is a lot better than Judy.
I like Scarlet.

Scarlette, this spelling, is awful. Scarlet is lovely, however.

I think Judith for Judy would be fine.

judith although better than judy is very old lady sounding.

I like Scarlet. It seems... violent, if that makes sense? So I try NOT to like it... but I still like it.

I think Judith would definitely work. Or Jude.

Scarlet is a favorite of mine.

I think Judith would work fine for Judy.

I can't hear Scarlet without thinking about Gone With the Wind. I actually love the book and her character, but just can't see it on a *real* person because I have such a strong association with the fictional character, if that makes sense.

I like Judith better for birth certificate purposes, but would probably use Judy. I kind of like it.

My mom's sassy Himalayan cat is named Scarlett (O'Hairy completes her purebred name, cute, right?). All that aside, I like the name but could never use it without thinking of my mom's cat.

I think Judith would be a fine tribute to your mother. I like the name better than Judy, and honestly, you could call her Judy as a nick name.

I love the name Scarlet. I prefer Judy but I definitely think Judith would work if you wanted to honor someone named Judy.

I like it...it's my sister's name, only we spell it Scarlett. Only bad thing was growing up she would be so upset that nothing came with her name on it!

Also, I like Judy rather than judith.

I LOVE Scarlett

And I think that's acceptable. I plan on giving a child a middle name of Estella after my mother, who's Estelle.

Scarlet/Scarlett is very trendy, and kind of silly-sounding, to be honest. Of course, that's just my opinion, as you can see, plenty of people love the name...

When I see Scarlet, I think: "that was the name of my cat. Any person with that name is bound to be a hooker or stripper." It's so trashy to me as a person's name. And the influx of Scarlet Rose as a combination boggles my mind.

Judith is a lot prettier than Judy, so I would go for it.
